Great Sheet Music
I got this sheet music when I was about 12. It challenged me, and it made me feel good when I finally had the ability to play it. I wish there was another just like this, only a little more advanced! :) I would totally buy it!

I Love It!!
The CD is very helpful. The music (piano at least) is just easy enough to be able to sight read it relatively well. The arrangements are very much like the soundtrack, which is great!

Good Music
I got this when I was about 10 years old and I loved playing it! It had a great CD accompaniment and was just a ton of fun! I totally recommend it for kids who've played violin for a few years, they;d like it.

Helps motivate young violin player
My son loves this music. It has helped motivate him to want to practice his violin (he has been playing for two years). I find the music to be a little dark for my taste, but if you enjoyed the Lord of the Rings movies, you will probably enjoy trying to play some of the music. The CD is beautiful.

GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!
My strings teacher always makes us do a solo for our end-of-the-year audtion. Last year, I played one of the songs from the book(In Dreams)and he loved it(he reconized the song to)! The songs are fun and easy to play for an intermediate player, like myself and the songs are beutiful even if you are just listening to them. I would definatly recomend this book to anyone who can play it.

An Orchestra in my living room!
The CD to this book is awesome! I absolutely LOVE playing along and I really like how it has a track with the violin part and a track with the accompany part too so you can play with either one. Also it has a extra hidden soundtrack in it with really awesome songs that aren't in the book but are in the movies. As far as the actual music goes- it's great! I just started playing violin about a year ago (although i've played the oboe and piano for 8 years) and I found it relatively easy to sight read but some of the the songs are fast and therefore a little harder to play- concerneing hobbits even involves changing positions so you do need a little technical background which is why I labeled it as early intermediate- practice makes perfect! Enjoy!

Love this book
Not alone do my students love to play this music, the sound track is quality support for the soloist. It is also nice to just listen to.

I love this book!
This book is so fun for someone who plays some piano and violin. The CD is really fun to play along with on the violin. The music is basic but very pretty.

Best I've Played
This is the best music that I can play (largely due to the fact that I don't practice enough). Since I'm the only violinist at my school and everyone knows these songs I can impress people, but the tunes get kinda boring when you dont have a pianist for a duet.

Fun
This is decent lord of the rings music, not too hard but not too easy. My favorite song is Gollum's Song and the first portion of The Black Rider. When I tried to play with the CD something was majorly "off" and it took me a while to realize that playing in a third position fixed everything. It would have been nice if the book told me to do so...but maybe that's something you're supposed to know yourself?

Not that great
I got this book hoping to have some good violin solos from LOTR. Anyone looking for that should FORGET buying this book it is very boring unless you are playing along with the CD or a piano. Most of the pieces just seemed to have you holding notes. I did like two of the songs' (Gollum's Song, Into The West)which were playable by themselves but without the CD there is still something missing. This book is good if you are looking for something around a Suzuki 2 level and want to work on something other then solos. Overall I found this to quite be a quite watered down version and was disappointed.

NONT ENOUGH MELODY
If you are looking for a book for a violin solo don't buy this book there is not enough melody if you are looking for a solo piano book don't buy it this book is strictly for duets I was a little disappointed.

Well-done Duets from LOTR
The music from LOTR is beautifully translated from orchestral into violin/piano duets. A couple of pieces that I would have liked (such as the intro to the black rider) were sadly not included, but the included pieces are very nicely done. They are not too easy, playable but a challenge for an intermediate student. The accompanying cd is very helpful.

Good
I would reconmend this book if you have a lot of time on your hands to learn to play, it is difficult, and I would not recomend this book if you aren't ready to spend a lot of time working out the songs!

This music was very easy. most of the songs were slow tempo. the songs are good but not great. Also a lot of the songs are very similar, not much of a variety.

Great Book!
I have tried many different violin books based on movies, and often there in the wrong key or sound nothing like the song. But this book is really good! It is in the correct key and is great for beginners of advanced violinists who just want something simple and fun. I highly reccomend this book.

Had some great melodies
I liked most of the songs in here, and although I wasn't crazy about how some of them sounded they all overall sounded pretty nice. My Favorite songs were In Dreams, Concerning Hobbits, Rohan, Minas Tirith.

You'll LOVE it!
Okay, if you are really into the Lord of the Rings and you play either piano or violin (preferably violin), You'll LOVE this music book! The songs are not that hard to play, and if you ever do have a little difficulty on a part, the CD helps. I LOVE that it also comes with a CD because you can play with it and it sounds almost EXACTLY like it does in the movie! I never get tired of playing it on my violin! The music is beautiful and sounds exactly like Middle Earth. If you are learning violin or you've been playing for a while it's not only great practice, but it's a lot of fun to play!

Great and Entertaining
I love the Lord of the Rings, and I was extremely pleased with this music. It has a wide variety of selections, and the difficulty level varies as well. But overall, I loved completing this book over time with training (6th-7th) grade, and I still play the pieces for fun

played in talent show
I played 3 selections at a nursing home talent show. The elderly loved it ("In Dreams" is almost note for note the old hymn "This is My Father's World") and the staff recognized the songs from the film. I agree there isn't as much melody as there could be. But in light of the positive listener feedback at the nursing home, it's a nice performance piece.

DAZZLING!!
AMAZING! INSPIRATIONAL!! This music is genious, it will suck you in if you play violin or piano. I've read all the lotr books, seen all the movies, and played most of the music(It is better for the violin, though)and I have to say, this is the exact style I invisioned. Beautiful!! I'm a sucker for srings, and play this music the best because it's so beautiful, I love the style of it. Middle Earth lives on in this music, and if you are a lotr geek like me, you NEED this book!!!!

Need an inspiration? It's right here.
Lord of the rings music is great, and if you have a violin or a piano, you will love this. This music is SO insparational. I don't see how anybody in the world could not like this music. The only songs I think it is missing are "Hope and Memory" and "A Storm is Coming" which might be to hard to play.

all that and a CD, too
Intermediate because of the timing of the melodies. The CD has play along tracks so one may solo without the orchestra. Also, I'd call it intermediate because I was freaked out by the sadness and hopelessness of Gollum's song! A nice package, with pull out sections and that CD.

This book is mainly for violin
Like I said above, the book is mainly for violin. While there is a lot of material for piano, the melodies are usually played by the violin. In Dreams was probably my favorite. I've been playing piano for a couple years now and the music was fairly easy to pick up. Again I just wish more of the melody was for piano.

Two years of violin & I can play this!
I have been playing the violin for two years only (and not always practicing on a regular basis...) and still, I can play most of these great melodies from my all time favorite movie. That's great!!!

Good for Beginners...Great for Fans
I am an early intermediate violinist, and I found the songs quite easy. The songs are quite beautiful, especially "Evenstar" and "In Dreams". The only part I dislike about this book is that it seems to have more piano than violin.

Not enough violin
I found that there wasn't enough playing in the violin part. Some of the songs had alot of playing in the violin part but on others there were sometimes only five notes played consecutively.

Truely Fantastic
Wow! I am left speachless with this book. I am a cellist who has just started to learn violin and this book work wonders to help me with my pitch and potioions on the violin. If it could take me from not being able to play a note intune to being better than most the violinist in my school it could work wonders for you. The songs are great and don't take much efort to learn.

Really Great :)
The music turned out to be easier than i thought but the songs are all still really good (at least for fun). When I first got the book I only liked five of the songs but as I listened to them more on the CD I liked all of them. I must warn there are a couple songs that sound blah without an accompaniment and although overall the songs are easy; some of the songs have accidentals that can fuddle you up if not paying attention.I still highly recommend this to all LOTR fans.

THE SOUL OF MIDDLE EARTH IS IN THIS BOOK
[...] The pieces are not very difficult but they sound sweet when played with the piano or the backing tracks which are provided with this book. I'm not going to name a particular track that I'm fond of in this book because I love them all!!!!!!! Each has alot to offer.

Satisfied
Quite simple to play these songs as a solo. Most of these songs REALLY need a piano to sound something other than boring. I wanted to play "The Ring Goes South," but it isn't here. The only songs I find enjoyable to play are, "In Dreams," "Concerning Hobbits," and "Rohan." Everything else is just too boring. I would recommend this for a beginning student, as these songs are easy to play, and to reconize. But if you are more advanced, I would get some different Lord of The Rings music.

Amazing!
I ordered this book several weeks ago, then got it and thought "This is too hard...". Then , I started playing them more often, and now I can play most of them without glitches. The CD that it comes with also helps so you can understand the speed and volume you need to play the songs... I particularly enjoyed "Evenstar" and, like Joel Wilson below, Forth Eolingas. This is great music for anyone who can play the violin fairly well.

I loved it!
The CD that comes with this book really helps you get the tune in your head before you start playing it yourself. I really enjoyed "Concerning Hobbits", "Forth Eolingas" and "Minas Tirith" Since those are my favourite tunes from each movie (if you noticed. Concerning Hobbits comes from The Fellowship of the Ring, Forth Eolingas from Two Towers, and so on).

Missing some of the best songs from the movie. I was really looking forward to playing "The Ring Goes South" or at least a short clip that could translate well to violin.

A Great Book
The book itself is great, the songs are fairly easy to play (although I wouldn't recommend it for someone just starting or anything), and they sound very good. The accompanyment CD is great, and if you have a buddy to play piano for you, the Piano accompanyment is fun as well. The only gripe that I could possibly name for this book is that some of the songs pretty much need the piano/CD playing with it to sound fairly decent. It's a fun book, though, and if you can memorize a couple of the songs and play them whenever, I guarantee you'll get people going "Is that Lord of the Rings? What else can you play?" (especially In Dreams and Concerning Hobbits, these especially catch people)
