Beautiful Arrangements!

Very pretty arrangements.....the songs are easy enough to learn quickly, and are especially appropriate for preludes/offeratories.

some nice arrangements

I don't like these as much as the 1st Living Room Sessions. They are simpler and have fewer variations on the melodies.

Chris Rice Christmas Music

Chris Rice is such a great composer! All of his music is great to play and the christmas album holds true to his name. All of the classic christmas songs have been given a special twist to make them new again!

Chris Rice: The Living Room Collection--Christmas

I enjoy the playing the music that I hear on the CD of the same name. To be able to play the arrangements in a similar fashion to those on the CD is a joy. The arrangements require just a little practice for an amateur like me

Wonderful Arrangements

Chris Rice is a wonderful musician. These Christmas carol arrangements are great for preludes and offertories at church. They are not too difficult but give you a rich, full sound.

Amazing, Outstanding, WOW!

This book is just amazing. Chris Rice, you arrange these songs so well, they have such a relaxed feel to them , but yet lots of dynamics to keep it interesting! You HAVE to buy this book, or Christmas just won't be the same for you...

Nothing new

This is another book I will be giving away. There is nothing new. The same old Carols with one new song which I think is very boring.. The supposedly new arrangements are so complex I can't be bothered even trying them.I thought the title gave the impression of something different.

Fantastic!

I just got his book today, and already love it! He did a great job arranging them. It has all the traditional Christmas songs, written in a beautiful way. I would say this is intermediate, as most are written in easy key signatures. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to play Christmas music for pleasure!

not as good as his other arrangements

I had high hopes that these carols would be something different than the usual arrangements, but I was disappointed to find that they were really quite ordinary. Chris' other Living Room Session book of religious hymns was much more of what I was hoping for with the christmas carols. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for something different.

Fun to Play!

I purchased this book several years ago and it is still the first book I pick up when the Christmas season comes around again! The arrangements are beautiful and rich sounding, yet fairly easy to play- a great combination! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for solo piano pieces to play for the holiday season- I guarantee there will be many happy listeners!

AMAZING!

I don't know how he does it, but this book is phoenomminal! These arrangements sound very full(I'm in grade 8 piano), But yet they're not all that difficult to play! I would also reccomend Chris Rice's other book too! I LOVE this book!!!

Unique arrangements of traditional songs

I've had this book about a month; spending a couple hrs. per day for a wk. should get you ready. The arrangements are all unique; but a couple are challenging. These are not songs for sing-a-long, but rather arrangements that really show case your solo playing. If you have a keyboard, adding a warm pad with the piano works very well with most of the songs. What impressed me most is how lush the arrangements are for an intermediate rating. The other thing I like about these songs is that they are truly different in their presentation. When you start to play Silent Night, I doubt anyone listening will walk away because they've heard it over a dozen times during the holiday season. These songs command attention because they're arranged so artistically and with expression. I think you will enjoy playing these songs yourself and for family/friends during the holiday season, but have some sing-a-long songs ready to go when the crowd wants to sing with you. Highly recommend!

Nice Christmas Music

I purchased this book after getting the cd and the other Living Room Session piano book. I find these songs a bit easier to play. I like this music - however, it's very seasonal. It's a nice edition to the Christmas Season

GREAT!

I love this book! It is my all time favorite. I don't think i even played anything else around Christmas time this past year. In fact, i've been playing it recently...and it's only August! I think this book would be perfect for an upper intermediate to early advanced pianist. Chris Rice arranged these songs wonderfully!

Good

Both of The Living Room Session books are really good. I have both of them. I have not play out of this one as much because I don't have the CD. I would recommend getting the CD's and the other book.

Simply Beautiful Christmas Carols

Before settling down to play from my recently purchased book, I decided to read Rice's Foreword on the inside front cover. I must admit I did shed a tear or two. He could not have put his words across better, and on playing the pieces that followed, the songs brought back memories of Christmases many, many years ago. Truly Living Room sessions. Easy to play and the melodies harmoniously ring out with the bass chords. This book is ideal for an Intermediate/Advanced player. This is my idea of how Christmas Carols should be rendered on a piano.

Excellent

I just received this book, and I think it is one of best for xmas!! It wasn't as difficult as I had expected, but every arrangement has a rich solid tone. It's a joy to sit and play all of the songs from this collection, great background music! I would definitely recommend to anyone!

My favorite

Christmas music is my favorite to play and this is my favorite book of all. Chris Rice is an amazing arranger and the pieces flow so well. Oddly enough, my favorite pieces in this book are my least favorite carols (God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Oh Come All Ye Faithful)I also highly reccomend the other Livingroom Sessions book and both of their CD's. Beautiful!

Soothing Christmas Music

Chris Rice once again does a nice job of arranging. These tunes are beautifully written and a joy to play! I also reccommend "The Living Room Series."

Traditionally Pretty

Nice arrangements of carols the way most people want to hear them. Embellishments tend to classical or baroque style. Clear notation, fun to play. True to the melodies and meanings of the tunes.
