All good music books
More info on history of composer and songs would be a welcome addition to already good books.

another essential book
OK, not every song in this collection is first-rate: I find this minor warning to be mandatory given Arlen's untouchable genius status (yes, Arlen happens to be slightly overrated in that I find him on auto-pilot or self-indulgent frame of mind on too many occasions) BUT there's no denying that he's one the greatest, and this collection includes loads of masterpieces, personal favorites including "one For My Baby", "Out Of This World", "I Wonder What Became Of Me", "A Sleepin' Bee", "Dissertation On The State Of Bliss", "Hit The Road To Dreamland" or "I've Got The World On A String". The "Rediscovered" collection is also highly recommended, even though it's not a perfect companion volume since too many songs are included in both books.

Harold Arlen Songbook
Fantastic book. Several songs I didn't even know he wrote. A wide range of song types to choose from. Over 70 songs! Some great photos. Songs categorized alphabetically, by show and by year.

Amazing Songwriter
I didn't realize how many of these songs were written by Arlen. The book includes a listing of all the songs Arlen wrote (with stars by the ones included in the book--and double-stars for the ones where this is the first publication). Arlen's a bit sophisticated, so he's hard for me to play, but that's good.
