Not the best

As an intermediate guitar player I found this book very frustrating. Compared to some of the other sheet music books I have brought this one falls short of the mark. Its hard to read and follow in places and surely all these songs arent the same length as in the book. Still looking for a good Neil Young book.

Why bother with tab

Very limited. Fingerpicking has been tabbed fine but they left out all of the leads and the measures. I ddin't realize Neils songs were so short! In this day and age note for note transcriptions are the norm. I guess I will keep on searching!

Neil Young: Simple but Good

This book may not have a bunch of pictures or explainations, but, like Neil Young in general, it is not here to look nice or write songs with Zeppelin-like precision. All of the tabs are accurate and extensive, and it has most of the songs that Neil is best know for (with the exception of "Cortez the Killer"). You can sound Young's songs out, but it is a pain with his tendency to jam and his extensive use of open and dropped tuning. If you like Young's songs don't hesistate to buy this, because it would be a pain to sound all of these songs out. Another thing- I wouldn't follow these tabs as orthodox... they may be accurate, but when you find the right pentationic scale these songs are fun to jam with.
