petty reveiw

even though I haven't been through every song, what I have done is very understandable. The only hold up is my ability. It easy to read and unlike some other book which just give you some of the music, the book goes through it all. I like it and would buy it again

Classic Guitar Songs

Great batch of songs from a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member. Learn the styles of Mike Campbell and Tom Petty. Mike likes solos on the B and E strings with that E string ringing out! I prefer these tabs to the Warner "Best of Tom Petty" book. Additional guitar parts are better tabbed out.

Want to learn it right the first time?

I purchased Tom Petty The Definitive Guitar Collection and it's just awesome. If you want to learn to play one of his songs just like the record then this is to book for you. I play in a band and I've been playing "Mary Jane's Last Dance" for a long time. But when I learned the recorded version from this book my band members noticed an improvement in the song. It's just a great book to learn Tom Petty's music the correct way the first time. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Good Collection, Easy to Follow

I'm a [one] year guitar player and my 10 yr old son is 2yrs into the bass. We take lessons and use this book. While some notes take effort to learn, it is easier than we thought. TO help inspire and get the rythem down, we use the CD to follow with. My son and I have a good time practicing together. Several songs, worth the purchase in our opinion.
