Great book
Entered into a classical guitar major as an average garage band guy that couldn't read a lick of music. Went through both Parkening books within the first year and was playing Bach's lute suites within 3 years. Very good method and starting point for anyone wanting to play classical and...

A Solid Beginner Book
This book is an excellent book written by a master of Classical Guitar. This book has some very nice arrangements of classical tunes, such as "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." There are much better methods
I have this method and the older Arron Shearer Methods. The Shearer Methods are much better in that they progress much smoother thanthe Parkening Books. I found with the CP book I could play the music on page 15 and not on page 16. Too much of a jump.
