The Blues

Every morning, I listen to "Breakfast with the Blues" (KRVM.org) to start my day on a boogie beat. This book provides verses and simple melody notation of many classic blues tunes that I translate into banjo tablature. I love the clawhammer blues sound and found this book a solid foundation for song selection and skill advancement.

Good reference,

A decent collection, but more of a reference document than anything. Its the size of a paperback novel, so propping it open on your music stand ain't really feasible, but if you have a good memory you could take it to jam sessions and quickly refer to it to get up to speed on a tune.

Wang Dang Doodle

Awesome eclectic little guide to about 100 blues tunes. All authors properly acknowledged. Accurate lyrics and melodies. Cost next to nothing and, best of all, fits in a guitar case. If Robert Johnson had this he may have cut a few more albums...

Excellent for the not so advanced players

These classic blues tunes are very encouraging to this near sixty year old beginner (guitar).
