Review of Big Book Of Nostalgia

I play the piano for 2 major hospitals in Charlotte. I have 14 huge 3-ring binders of every type of music. This Book is the best! So many elderly people will walk up the stairs to where I am and tell me how much they enjoy this music. It is easy to read so that you can add to it to make is sound more complicated. One 90-year old gentleman said, "I used to skate to this music".

The Big Book of Nostalgia

This is a great collection for those who love to sing the "old favorites." It's printed in the style of sheet music, with a melody line, piano accompaniment and guitar chords. A spiral binding would have been even better, but it's a wonderful music book for family or friends to use for a sing-a-long.

The Big Book of Notalgia

This book is absolutely LOVELY! I was looking for something that was ';playable' from the first moment you opened the book... this was it! I would describe it as easy/intermediate. The pieces in this book are arranged to sound more difficult than they actually are. I especially enjoyed playing Aloha Oe with it's very 'Hawaiian' sound. I also liked the sweet soothing melody of the Missouri Waltz. Actually, I was swept away with everything I have played.... it made me sound like a real virtuoso!!

Reference for Nostalgia

I needed a reference book of "old" favorites that was simple enough that I could sight read the music and have it still sound as if it was a practiced performance. The collection in this book contains the songs I need with the difficulty level I require. This is a "performance ready" document.

A New Dimension To Song Collection

The historical origins of songs are very often neglected. This book provides just that - a detailed description of the authorship and publishing history of every song as well as when the song was a "hit" and if it was ever used in movie musicals. This is a great anthology of many of the "Golden Oldies". I am eagerly waiting for Volume 2!

Down Memory Lane

It takes me back, makes me smile, and lets me sing along! The history of each song tells me whether the song was written/popular during my lifetime, or one I remember because old family and friends sang it to me. I love to take the book away from the piano and simply place it on my lap, read the histories, and sing songs when I am home alone. What reverie!I'm a 65-year-old grandmother and not a great pianist, but I manage quite well with this book. Thank you, everyone.

Great for nursing homes

I was looking for a large volume of music from the 30's and 40's that would give me music to play and sing along at a nursing home. It's loaded with great oldies and very good arrangements.

Just What I was Looking For.

After many years of playing the trumpet I was no longer interested in that instrument. Still I wanted to enjoy music in my retirement years and I found it in my electronic keyboard. I needed songs of the 30s and 40s and The Big Book of Nostalgia was just what I had been looking for. I have been busy transcribing those that I used to play on the trumpet and now I play them on the keyboard.

Too Big

This book is too big. Split these editions or add a spiral for easy turning.

The big book did a Great Job

I needed music for a senior party for about 60 at our church. I needed clean old fashion music with words they could sing and relate to, this book did the trick. My mens quartet and ladys trio sang from the book, I made a power point with the words of the old love songs and they sang along and loved it. Best buy in music I have made in some time. Thanks
