can be hard
it's mainly not to be done to play most of the songs on your own, but that is to be expected with 2 lead guitar players, anyhow it still is a treasure to find out which chords and techniques are used..

good instruction for intermediate players
This video is excellent for learning the important parts of these songs. It does assume some level of ability and may be a bit frustrating for beginners.

You Will Need the Book
I too was disappointed with this DVD. The camera angles make it difficult to see exactly what the guy is doing on the riffs, and there is no tab. For the beginner, you will find it frustrating that the slower version is still hard to catch. You will definitely need to buy one of the books with the song in tab to find out exactly what is being done. I actually e-mailed the publisher to complain about the lack of tab. The explanation was that there are differing licenses involved and adding the tab is cost prohibitive. But, like I said, you will need to buy a tab book with the song or else go on line and look for one of those homemade tabs where the person "thinks" this is what is being played.

Only covers highlights, but does it well
I purchased this DVD on a whim, and haven't been disappointed. Although the DVD covers only selected elements of each song, I believe it does so well. Beware, however, you will need to study the orginal recordings to fill in gaps and to appreciate the nuance of Allman Brother's style.

Expected More!
Being a long time Allman Bros. fan, when I saw the DVD in the music store window, I was excited and couldn't wait to buy it and check it out. I Must say, I was expecting more from this DVD! I have purchased other types of instructional DVDs for Guitar and found them to be good. The Best of the Allman Bros DVD does not come with a booklet nor does the DVD display cords being played etc. A guitarist would need to watch the DVD over and over to learn a song (which isn't played in its entirety). You can do better by buying the music book with tab and play along with the record. The one positive thing about watching the DVD is you see the hand position on the neck which suggests proper finger placement. Usually in a book with tab, the notes are shown but you need to figure out the fingering.

Save your money
A few chops are played and they are nearly impossible to follow given th eformat which it is presented. No slide work, only guitar phrases.

SAVE YOUR MONEY
Here is a brief summary of one of the songs: The guy will introduce the song with some random fact about its origin, then tell you what the first chord is, then he'll play it. Then he plays it slower for you, and thats it, no explanation, nothing. There is no way you are going to learn the song unless you watch it frame by frame. It is the worst excuse for a "instructional" dvd that i have ever seen. In short, buy the book.
