The Best of the Ventures (book & CD)

The book and instructional CD are easy to follow and learn with. Surf Rock is fun to play, and with a little practice, easy to master. The Ventures are fantastic musicians. Check these guys out on YouTube. I personally feel this product could be enhanced if a play along CD of the actual songs presented in the book was included with the book and instructional CD. Surf Rock Forever!

Walk Don't Run

Directions are very clear. An understanding of rythym signature and knowledge of basic I,III,IV etc in chord progression is helpfull. Good introduction

Ventures Review

Very easy to learn from. Love the history stories given about the group. They are the guitar legends who took music written 10/20 years early and plug it in. I prefer books with the CD's which this has. Now I just need a drummer then I am ready to tour.

Excellent starting point if you like surf music!

Being a beginning to intermediate guitar player I figured that I should get a grasp on the early types of rock and roll so that I'll be able to work my way up to playing Led Zeppelin(my favorite!) and Randy Rhoads, etc. With a broad base of music theory, I found the slow tracks to be invaluable---both for timing and clarity. The Ventures are a great band, however, the featured songs are very basic. The guitar solos are equivalent to early Beatles...well, maybe not quite that cheesy, but just don't expect much more. This is what I needed at the present time. Still, you can get a good grasp of song structure and the tunes really do stand the test of time. I wasn't the least bit disappointed. You've got to have a solid foundation before you can begin shredding like John Petrucci or Pantera! Rock on!

Must Have For Ventures Lovers

This is a must-have book and CD for Ventures lovers who enjoy playing all thier greatest hits. The book is easy to use and the CD complements each song with "guitar clips" and other pertinent music to help you quickly learn each part.
