Awesome way to get the led out

I was going to play a Zeppelin song for my high school talent show. I needed some sheet music for it but I couldn't find a book that had it. Then I found this book and it helped me tons! P.S. there aren't any guitar chords because it's a drum book, Travis!

This Book was very helpful!

You would have to be an absolute magician or superior being to be able to perfectly transcribe every beat or fill that John Bonham does on most any of his songs. I feel that the author of this book did a great job in giving the basic feel for the songs. I bought this book for my 12 year old son, and within two weeks time he had been able to play as written every song in the book. I then had him start to play them with the records, It was a little different in most of the songs, but he had a good feel for them after studying the book, and was able to work his way closer to how Bonham played it. He is a big fan of Zeppelin and really enjoyed the book. He is now able to play the songs in the band that I direct for kids, and the audiences are amazed at closely he can play the songs to the originals. I highly recomend this book to any Bonham fan. I only wish they had Rock and Roll and Moby Dick in it.

What A Waste

This score is a waste of the paper its written on. As stated by some others on this site, the fills and bass lines are inaccurate. Parts of the notation are confusing. The author seems to mix up 8th and 16th notes. Overall, I don't recommend it.

Great book!

"This book is awesome! Don't listen to the bad things other people said about this book, because it is accurate even on the harder songs such as Good Times Bad Times and Whole Lotta Love. I would recommend this book to intermediate and advanced drummers and not beginners only because the book imitates John Bonham (and he was amazing). My only complaint is that there are a few mistakes in some fills and that they didn't include Dancing Days."

Book review

I found the book quite bad because when I listen to the songs and look in the book. When I listened to the songs I notice that John Bonham doesn´t play the same fills as the notes. But it´s a good book if you want to learn some of their songs, and it´s the closest book you can get to learn some of their songs.

i agree with chip

the guy who wrote this book is an idiot! Anyone that can read drumset music and has ears can see that there are clear differences bettwen what he writes in his book and the actual recording of the song. Before you buy this, look at the version of Whole Lotta Love on this website, and listen to the song.

This author is CLULESS

These are the same lame charts as in Drum Technigues of Led Zeppelin. Bill Wheeler is an uneducated, HACK of an Author. His charts are so filled with Rhytmic inaccuracies it is pathetic. These charts are not even CLOSE. I am a drum teacher and professional drummer with European tours of Beauty & the Beast, & Evita, & have performed with many artists to include Micahael McDonald, Melba Moore, Moody Blues, Temptations, Roberta Flack, Patti Lupone & more. I read charts for a living, & anything by this author is a ripoff. He does not know the difference between 16th note and 8th notes. He uses an antiquated "piano-style" stem direction notation, which makes the materieal VERY hard to read. EVERY SINGLE transcription I have every encountered by Bill Wheeler is wrong. I first got Drum Techniques of Led Zeppelin in 1987, for students. I ended up having to re-write EVERY chart, because they made NO sense. [...]

Some hard stuff like Immigrant Song. You'd have to be stupid to not be able to memorize that one. But don't get me wrong, there is some harder stuff in there, too. It won't dissapoint you.

A good book

"I like this book very much because it contains many of the Led Zeppelin songs I like, and it´s easy to learn them. It also contains what the symbols mean- if you can´t read notes I think this is a good book to start with where you can develope your note reading and drum technique! I´ve learned a lot of their songs that I couldn´t play before, but I have also developed my drum technique. If you like Led Zeppelin, I reccomend you to buy this book!"

John Bonham at his best!

You gotta be quick to be able to play this book well. It's for farely advanced players but most any drummer could at least get some of it down. Lots of great Led Zeppelin classics in this book. It's definately worth your money!

Pretty Good

Good transcriptions for the most part, some parts were more accurate than others but overall very helpful. It's more than I've been able to transcribe from listening. I'd recommend it.

Awesome...enough said.

This book has all the Led Zeppelin hits for drums. Although the bass drum line is a little messed, it's still the best drum book ever!

Love it

Better transcribed than most what I have seen elsewhere. The time signatures work for me. Indeed some inconsistency for bass/floor tom, apart from that: buy it if you're into Bonham, it saves so much time. I want more of this. Also: don't buy "LZ: Drum Techniques", same transcriptions, just less off them.

Great Book!

I'm not sure where Travis is going with his pointless raving (he made the first two posts), but he is completely wrong. How could he give this book ONE STAR?! And what is he talking aboutwhen he says "and it doesn;t even have a single guitar chord.". This is a DRUM book. The best of Led Zeppelins Drums! Anyway, the book was very useful and helped me figure out alot of the more complex rhythms in Zeppelin's drumming. Song I found most interesting (drum wise) were The Crunge and Good Times Bad Times. They were tabbed perfectly! This is a great book to get and at a great price!

The other reviews are made by idiots

Ok, I got this book and it kicks ass, none of the stuff they said is true. They must be beginners who don't know anything about drums, and led zeppelin is waaay too much for them. So since they can't play it they say the book sucks.... Anyways, this is a good book, and its the closest transcription you'll ever find to play led zeppelin (trust me i've looked) so if you're a good drummer and you can handle it, get this.

Another Thing....

These charts did not even have a single guitar chord, even footnoted. What a waste of paper. I was thinking about purchasing the other book titled "Led Zepplin Drum Techniques" but I see it is edited by the same guy as this book, Mike Finkelstein. He probably rehashes the same bad charts and slaps a different cover on.

These Charts Suck!

This book was a big dissappointment. Bonham's grooves were never hard to figure out, but I purchased this book to help me with parts I was not able to hear on the cd like ghost notes, fills and time signatures changes, but this book doesn't even get the tempo marking right. The author/transcriber doesn't even stick to his own drum legend. He states in the beginning that the bass drum is written on the E line but in Black Dog the author writes it on the F Line. I don't know what version he writes these songs from, maybe some bootleg pocket tape recorder from a Germany concert, but they don't match up with the popular commercial album recorded versions. I must admit that I have not played through all the songs with the albums, but it is very disappointing to have to stop and start every twelve bars just to figure out what the chart is doing. That was the reason I bought the charts in the first place, so I wouldn't have to keep listening to the same parts over and over.
