Not true

I have to agree with the guy from london on the first page of reviews. The people that make these books claim that they're straight from the guitarist themselves but that is not true. I got 3 books...Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Alice In Chains....The RHCP is the worst but the Nirvana one is almost just as bad and the Alice in Chains is even worse. I have watched Kurt Cobain and John Frusciante(RHCP) and Jerry Cantrell(Alice In Chains) play all of the songs on the books I have and the way they REALLY play A LOT of the songs are nothing like the book says.

good..well..not if you have a band

The tabs are i'd say are 95% accurate but its just mimicing the chorus so it sounds sorta weird if you plan on singing the lyrics but if your looking for easy solos I recomend this book

Why did i waste 15 bucks on this??

I bought this book at some little music store a while ago when i was still pretty much a beginner, and as i looked through Smells Like Teen Spirit, to find the solo, i noticed how different the chorus was from what my guitar teacher taught me, half of the notes in this book are wrong! I mean i at first thought the songs sounded bad just cuz i was a beginner but now im skimming through it and realizing how inaccurate parts of it are, and not just a little inaccurate, i mean like really REALLY inacurrate. But just to be fair, a couple of the songs like Heart Shaped Box and All Appologies are pretty good as far as accuracy goes.

This Book Will Do Nothing But Confuse

I bought this book when I was a beginner and I mistakenly put my trust in it and tried to learn my beloved Nirvana songs using it. When I played from the page and it didn't sound ANYTHING like the song, I blamed myself because I was such a new player. It was a while before I realized that my own ear was right and the book was an absolute piece of crap. Nirvana songs aren't that hard to play accurately by ear, so I don't know why the hell this guy did such a horrible job of writing it down. Whatever you do, don't buy this.

Joka

This tab book is by far the worst i have ever seen. Most of the tabs are wrong or are right but in the wrong place. Looks like a 5 year old wrote it. I learnt the songs by ear correctly. You should do the same.

Worst Tab Book Ever!!!

Like an idiot I bought this book thinking it would be accurate. Gimme a break, Im a beginner, but this is way too simple and innaccurate for me. When I opened it the lyrics aren't even right, so I figured the tabs gotta be wrong. And it is!

Good Nirvana beginner guitar book

I dont know what these people are saying. This guitar book is great. The tabs are fine, people, just stop being stupid with the "shame to nirvana" stuff. I mean what did u expect, kurt writing the tabs himself (RIP Kurt if you read this); so give the author a break. I give it 5 stars. If you are just beginning the guitar, get this book. The only downside is that it doesn't have guitar solo's for some songs. But it is still a great book.

This is ok....

I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it for anyone that wants to play Nirvana with minimal experience. However, that's what Nirvana was...it was mostly power chords and chords with a few small riffs...not much more. In short, this book is definately worth getting, and is a big help in trying to decipher between the bogus tabs as found on different tab sites...

Aww!

I bought this disregarding the bad reviews from other people because I'm curious and stupid. This book sucks and the tabs are way off. Buy the other tab books for Nirvana, but not this one. BEWARE AT ALL COSTS!

Uncomplete & uncorrect tabs For beginers

This book was the biggest disapointment in all my years of playing the guitar and playing the Nirvana Tabs. Trust me and the rest writing these reviews on this. It will save you a few bucks and get something better. This book is incomplete, uncorrect, and for beginers. Well I guess that's good for beginers. But come on. If Kurt Cobain used these tabs for Nirvana they wouldn't be popular, they wouldn't have changed the face of rock and music in the early 90's, and Kurt, God bless his talented soul, wouldn't have been so popular and shoot himself in the head, with all-do respect.

Horrible Book

This is the worst tab book I've ever seen. Half of the tabs are made up. They are not even in half of the songs.

Shameful

I first bought this when I just started to learn guitar, because I wanted to play Nirvana songs. As I played through the tabs, I couldnt understand why it was so off. The tabs suck, although since they tell you the chords above it, those are sometimes right but as a tab book it sucks. I wasted my 15 bucks, dont waste yours.

i got it free

i got this free with my subscription to a magazine. now i see why it was free - cos its rubbish. all the tabs are wrong, the smells like teen spirit one is laughable. they seem to think "easy guitar" means you cant play anything above the 5th fret and use open notes where ever possible. the tab just plays what kurt it singing which sounds really awful.

Beginner Tabs

It seems to me the problem isn't the Hal Leonard tabbing, but simply a confusion. If you read the description this is the easy guitar version with simplified notations. I you want good tab, check out the Hal Leonard Nirvana In Utero ratings. Same songs, but all 15 or so raters claim they are 100% perfect.

Will Hal Leonard stop publishing crap?

It seems to me that almost all so called "accurate" transcriptions that come from Hal Leonard are way off. It's as if they don't really care if they even come close. Who the hell transcribes these things anyway? Sounds like a bunch of trained chimps.

This Book is BAD!!

Do not buy this book. It has bad transcriptions of the guitar part that they show. On every song they show the intro for the guitar, but when Kurt starts singing, it transcribes what he is singing, instead of the guitar part. Please do not waste your money on it!!
