The complete scores are completely lacking...
in the depth of sound the Beatles generated. That is, the score sheets don't jump out at you with one element or the other as being prominent. For example, I want to see the opening vocal harmonies on She Loves You in bold with the chords side by side to show how integral both these elements were in making the song and lyrics come alive. And likewise for the rest of the song. But, as for the the rhythm section, these are more difficult elements to notate except perhaps for the bass, drum and guitar solos, which should always be made to stand out.

Worth The Money!!!!!
worth the money. It's alot but you get what you payed for and more. It would be better if it came with individual part books. Good for piano players but expect many page turns with tons of repeats. Know a song before you read it out of here. Some of it is not written in the right octave for piano i don't know about guitar. For those who are mallet players: not good to read straight from. Waaaay to hard to see the chords from across a marimba and it's not fun turning a page while you already have to mallets in your hand.

Excellent but flawed
This was a great idea but now needs a second edition to correct the errors. For example, in many places the same chord shown in the tab section is given a different name in different measures. In some other measures the notes don't add up to the time signature. The transcribers at Shinko Music Publishing did an incredible job, however, since they were obviously forced to jam all of the instruments into a limited space to facilitate publishing, if not readability.

All You need is a MAGNIFYING Glass
This book is so FRUSTRATING because it IS so accurate but the print is so small it is nearly impossible to read and play. God help the visually impaired. The size of the font is INEXCUSABLE. Other than that important OVERSIGHT it is the best book on the market.

Need bigger font
As the Beatle generations (All of them) age, Why can't Hal Leonard re issue a larger copy with ring binding that would make study of this great music easy, I am using reading glasses But this really limits the time I can work with this book, darker less cute font would help , I would pay more money for a more readable version,

More a curiosity than something of any real use
The presentation is quite a good-looking package but the print size is too small, and not a book that you could comfortably fit on the desk of your piano. For the pianist, it is essential to know that there are very few numbers where piano is used, so the score involves guitar drums etc. and rarly includes piano. Where piano is included, there is nothing new to learn, and the arrangements are very simple and basic. This publication is NOT for the pianist who hopes to discover some great arrangements of Beatles tunes; in reality, you will find a handful of tunes including piano, and those arrangements are basic. So this book makes an interesting ornament for a passive Beatles fan.

sheet music fun
there is a Sunday morning radio show called Breakfast With The Beatles in NYC on 104.3FM from 8am - 10am. I open this book and read along with the music... it is a wonderful experience to see the music come to life as you hear it. The notations are excellent and accurate. The only thing I would like is for the print to be bigger; but, I guess that is more about my eyes than the print! I would like to see the book on DVD so that I could print usable copies for the piano music stand; the book is too big and the pages start to sag; a minor thing compared to all the enjoyment. All in all, it is a great product and a valued purchase. This book captures the real Beatles magic and the way the music is scored shows their brilliant talent in song writing.

great book
this is a great book. it's all there, except the george martin orchestral stuff from "yellow submarine". i guess it's debatable whether the latter is actually beatles. the tab doesn't always match the standard notation but i believe the standard notation to be correct wherever there is a discrepancy. if you don't read music, you'll still get the harmonic structure but you'll be leaving so much on the table. of course, the beatles are hardly surpassed in pop music for harmonic richness so it's still a good deal. all the guitar solos are there. i think george harrison is an underrated guitarist. he's no virtuoso but he's very clever and a great song writer. the same applies to the other members. at 1200 pages or so, the font is eentsy, so it's hard for an ensemble to learn a song with just one copy of the book. it's easy to forget just how much quality music these guys produced.

Best Bang for the Buck
The type is small but the content is amazingly "right on". I have been using this volume for years. I still say it is one of the most dilligently transcribed tablature out there today. You can literally come "on-line" with any Beatles tune within minutes. This is from a casual guitarist and FabFour fan since 1963.

Complete, but.........
Yes, it is the complete scores of the Beatles. Everything is here. But as a result, it is far too small to be read by the average person.

I gots lots to say!
Well, I am more of a pianist that a guitarist. So I do have two opinions So for all you "hardcore" pianists out there reading this, I don't think this is a good buy UNLESS you can write music, in that case buy it and figure out some piano arrangements for songs without piano like “Here Comes the Sun” “Across the Universe” or whatever. (I got to admit I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't piano for all the songs) I’ve been playing piano for 7 years so. . .yeah Beginning Guitarists: This is advanced stuff HOWEVER; it does contain tabs and charts to play some chords. I’m still learning I’ve only been playing for like 3 months Everyone: yes the print is small but unless you’re a 10000 year old person, you'll live. I think there might be SOME mistakes, but again, if you read and write music then you can correct them & figure it out. BUT ANYWAYS, this book is AMAZING (if you can read music) I’m really enjoying it!

Beautiful Volume but hard to use!!!!
The content of this Beatle volume is wonderful. The appearance and physical production of the volume is beautiful as a display volume. The key criticism that I have is the small print and page size. I can barely read the notation a a normal distance. They tried to cram so much on each page that you have to make several "page turns" to get through every song. And, using all of those coda, it is nearly impossible to play from this book. I have had to make copies, tape them together to use them until memorized. Final word: Content is excellent but usability is poor.

Great book, well worth the price
This book is great, every part for every Beatles song! The only problem is that the print is tiny since there are so many parts on one page, but it's pretty easy to get used to. A must have for true Beatles fans.

Best investmen I`ve ever done
This book is totally and completely the best scores I`ve ever seen. Even the songs The Beatles has covered is here. I've played piano for 12 years and these notes are really good. And the fact that not only are their notes for guitar, rythmn guitar, bass (and tabs for these 3 instruments), vocals, piano, chores even drums but also if there should be any instruments on a song that are`t these regular instrumens for example harmonica, trumpet, violin, sax you name it,it stands there. And it stands exactly the way The Beatles playd it. And beleive me I know what I am talking about, because I`ve been a fan of Beatles since I was 6 years old and now I am 19.

Worth every penny
If you are a Beatles fan, this book is worth every penny. Complete scores of every instrument, for every song by the Beatles. Curious what the bass clarinet is doing on "When I'm Sixty Four"? No worries, this book has it all. Also the chords are on top of the score chart so you can just strum along if you want. However, the binding is weak on the book, my binding is coming off. But, I’m going to try to find a way to fix the binding, because this book is incredible.

My, aren't we so very clinical...
...and cynical. Let me guess that there are multiple-millions of notes in this book and I am willing to live with a missing flat, mis-named chord, or misidentified flugglehorn here and there. Complaining about rhythm misses ignores "expression," impossible to notate since the beginning of time. This is the only collection of a rock band, prolific or otherwise, and includes 200+ killer transcriptions. Let's not forget how much sound Sr George Martin could pile on to four tracks and what a near-impossibility it is to filter sounds as transcribers can easily do with modern works recorded on 16-32 tracks... My only point of agreement with the nay-sayers is that Hal Leonard has some damned nerve not having fixed those known errors in the past 16 years. Shame on them.

One of the better ones I've played along
Over the years I've purchased and studied many songbooks on The music of The Beatles. This one is one of the better ones, but don't take all of it for gospel...There are chords which are shown as minors or majors which might not always be correct, there are riffs that are not always played on the right strings, but all in all, it's a pretty good representation of The Beatles' works. For the money, I think it's kinda worth it, although the publisher could've supplied a pencil to make corrections. I give it about a 4 star. PS: The font is ridiculously small, what's up with that? A great study book, nevertheless.

Flawed, but still fab!
Yeah, there are errors; but with so much of it right on, me thinks it's as much a printer's error rather than a transcriber's error. And sure the font could be bigger, but then you'd have to have 2 or 3 volumes, and 2 or 3 times the cost. Overall an outstanding attempt to capture the Fab Four's sound on paper. Now, where's the revision??

Ok - the font is a little on the small side, but over 200 classic songs for less than $80? I can handle the small font. Great music. Need to improvise a little, but it's fantastic to have just about every beatle song in one single boxed gift set.

So MAny Errors
This book is great, don't get me wrong. I mea, you've got all the different insturments, transcribed the way the beatles played it....though there is nearly a mistake every other page. I mean, being a pretty good piano player, I can notice HUGE flaws in let it be, most are in the small little parts, but, all the instruments are screwed up, and the organs and brass are way off, in terms of when they play, and when they tacet Also as a beg. guitarist, the across the universe beg. is slightly off when it tabs for 9... even my friends whose been on the guitar for nine years asked me if that note was right, and he's never heard the song in his life!!! BUY IT, BUT REVISE IT ON THE WAY..

Worth it
I just bought this book and have been glued to it since it came to my house. I've read that people say the print is too small, no way! It's fine. The contents are incredible it has any beatle song you'll ever need, you're getting like 250 songs for 63 bucks, if you're a beatle fan who wants to play beatle music correctly buy this book you won't regret it trust me. people have said there are mistakes, which is true, but they are minor ones that can easily be fixed just by listening to what you're playing. can't go wrong, it's amazing. if this book had arms i would give it a hug.

Great, Book, Great Value
Overall this book is a very handsome one, with all the songs of the Beatles!!! (Except Free as a Bird), but this book was published in 1989. I thought I would address some of the issue with the book that people seem to have and give you my honest opinion: **Font Size: This book is as larger than many larger sized college text books or the dictionary. The font is a little smaller than one may be used to, but this is a negligible factor, I only had to lean in an inch closer to see the sheet music. **Mistakes: There are a few mistakes in this book, but I have found very few of them. The ones that I have found been small and insignificant at best and there is only one larger one I am aware of. Overall, this is a great book, if you’re a Beatles fan and play bass, guitar or drums; it’s a great value and a great resource. Overall, taking all factors into consideration this book is still objectively maybe a 4.9/5, but I’ll round that up to a 5/5. Bottom-line: GET IT!!!!

Great
This is a great book, especially if you want to know how to play it exactly as the Beatles played it. I love the ammount of songs (EVERY song) and how every instrument is there pretty much exactly as the Beatles played it. I have a cheap paperback I take everywhere with me, but when I really want to know how to play something I turn to this book. My Dad calls it the "Bible".

Bad book, looks nice but is bad on the inside, hard to read, not worth the money, this book is great for collectors but not anyone looking to actually use the book. i spent my had earned money on this and was very dissapointed. my suggestion is wait until they revise the book to a new form that is readable(not just because it's small, the way it's presented is bad.)

I think it's great...
I was hesitant to buy the Complete Score. I did a lot research. I just had to take the dive. Many before me have stated there are some mistakes. It’s big book. It even says they maybe some errors through out on the first page of the book. The print is small but it is readable. I recommend the other Hal Leonard Beatles books too for better insight in something you may not under stand in the Complete Scores version. Have them all and I thought I would regret it getting the Complete Scores last but the others books come in handy. Example: In the Sgt. Pepper’s guitar book everything is arranged for guitar. So in Lucy in the Sky w/ Diamonds the “Hammond organ” is arranged so you can play it on the guitar. I understand though that the Complete Scores is made, as they actually performed them. A plus though that some of the early Beatle songs you won’t find in other transcribed book. The Complete Score is great book to own. (Hope you can understand some of the things I’ve said.)

Handy but not holy
Since not every verse and chorus is printed separately, approximations had to be made. However, this does not explain the many instances in which notes (and sometimes words) are written that the Beatles did not play or sing at all. Check for example the harmony and backing vocals of popular songs. By making enlarged copies, you can get much more readable versions that still fit on A4 format. I've been a Beatle fan for thirty years now and studied jazz for three years at the conservatory in Rotterdam (NL).

Everything and more!
When i first saw the reviews, I was real sketchy about buying this book. My advice is dont be! This is probably the best tab book i have ever got. Every single beatle song i wanted to learn was in here (except hippy hippy shake) . I encourage you to buy this instead of a single album book. All the tabs are right, It has a line for everything from the harp in "she's leaving home" to george pounding out solos. Best investment you'll make!

ALL their songs!!
Sure the type is a little small, and the notation is abbreviated for the space needed...but just think of what you get in one book! EVERY song The Beatles ever recorded. I've been absolutely giddy since receiving it. I actually find some of these arrangements a little easier to play over a few other Beatles books I have. And sure, there's a few mistakes as pointed out, but this fits the bill if you're a fan. Worth the money spent...and I got mine on sale to boot!

Simply fantastic
This is a great book, it helped me to make some arrangements. It has some mistakes (for example, the piano part in "Money" isn't exactly as sounded in the record), but I think it's an essential book to know more accurate the music of The Beatles. "Do you want to know a secret?" Read this scores listening the CD's.

It's time for a revised version....
The idea of this book is great, and much of it is helpful, but why not get the transcriptions right? Shinko publications in Japan consistently correctly transcribes the hardest music imaginable (ie, Paul Gilbert at warp speed), so what's Hal Leonard's excuse? Many of the Beatles songs I most wanted to learn from this book are just wrong (ie, I'll Cry Instead). It's as though they punted on the tough ones. This book has been out for years now - it's time to come out with an accurate version that fulfills the promise of the original.

wha hooo
okay heres the deal. this book. is good. no doubt about it but my only quarrel with the book is that. mother natures sono does not have the proper struming patter in fact its a finger picked song. and the only other problem is long and winding piano bit is off i belive i dont know why but it is. i cant label it. and finally the book is far too small. i know they had to compress it and all but for petes sake. this is written for hampsters or something. other then that a great buy. i would buy it again even knowing all the problems. thumbs up hal finally you did something right. now how about a PInk floyd one. or a queen one or billy joel. hop to it. COMPLETE SCORES every song.

Many mistakes, but GREAT BUY! for anyone
To start, this is a definite buy for anyone who grew up listening or playing The Beatles. That aside, this book is not perfect, in fact, it has many flaws including print size (which is TINY!). Mistakes include: While My Guitar Gently Weeps, the Guitar 1 part is just about completely wrong. When I'm Sixty Four: the entire song is in the wrong key. Strawberry Fields Forever: the entire song is wrong key, wrong guitar parts, wrong bass, wrong label for Moog Synthesizer (they call it "Organ"). The most common mistake is the mislabeling of instuments. Rocky Racoon: Guitar is wrong. There are so many more, I just started from the back of the book. Still, a great buy because you get the the just of it for every song. Amazing book, would have liked Hal Leonard to produce The Beatles Transcribed Scores for each record like the amazing Jimi Hendrix Transcribed Score series (which is a great buy), but buy this anyway!

I hear some reviews that say that are quite a few mistakes, and it's true. But this book is a dream for any real Beatle fan. You couldn't ask for more, I mean come on, every instrument and solo and everything. I recommend to get your money's worth, because if you're like me you find a new Beatle song you like every day and want to play it.

A "Best Buy" for fans of the Beatles!
I've played guitar for 30 yrs & I'm STILL learning from J, P, G, & R! This book has it all. Yes there are some flaws & for 40+ yr old eyes the print is small, but it's not a performance guide! (tho it could be) The error are easy to fix, & you get all the performances transcribed as close as humanly possible in one $60 volume! What more could you ask?!

The only Beatles book you should buy
Sure, it's not 100% perfect, but how can you possibly complain, given what you get? (I'll admit, though, that they probably should have released a corrected edition by now!) Do not buy any other Beatles songbook. Buy this one.

The Bible of Beatles music
This is a great value, you get every song for every instrument for only 60 bucks. The tabs are a little confusing but if you listen to the album you will be able to figure it out. Great for anyone who loves to play Beatles music.

As good as it gets
The transcriptions are quite accurate. Occasionally a note is wrong, but this happens in nearly all sheet music. The font is a bit small, but the trade-off is that you have every Beatles song transcribed at an affordable price. I especially am pleased with the accurate transcriptions of the characteristic Beatles vocal harmonies. This book is about as perfect as you can get!

Complete book for the complete fan
I've been a Beatles fan since the sixty's and played guitar since the early seventies. Not only has this publication brought back memories for me but has also given me the opportunity to understand the music I've been trying to play for thirty years. Though not perfect, (Font a little small, some of the tab a little confusing) The Complete Scores of the Beatles is the book for the complete fan.

Time saver
I'm a guitarist, and this book is truly a godsend for those of us pressed for time. Though there are some minor flaws, most of the guitar parts are right on. And now I dont' have to spend the time figuring out what wierd minor augmented dimented ninth chord Lennon used backwards through a tape loop!

Flawed, but helpful
It is terrific to have all of the Beatles songs in this book [even Rev 9!]The Japanese transcribers have made a few amusing gaffes with the lyrics. Milton Okun's Compleat Beatles is more accurate on several songs. The music is printed in a small hard-to-read pseudo-handwritten font. The piano part is an octave lower than it sounds, and was probably transcribed by a guitarists, not pianists. Orchestral instruments are sometimes wrongly labelled and the transcription is not reliable. Contrasts starkly with the transcription of Queens 2 vol Greatest Hits done by Barnes Engraving. It is interesting to compare the Beatles simplicity with Queen's complexity. Nonetheless, well worth getting, and a bargain for the price.

Very good stuff!
This book is terrific. Unlike other Beatles books, these songs are presented in their actual keys (I've seen Sgt. Pepper written in C....yuck) As both a piano and guitar player, I'm impressed with the way the Scores lets you get a feel for things such as the "rhythm piano" of Back in the USSR, or the two-guitar interplay of I'll Be Back. All the songs (even those they didn't write) from all the albums. You can play along as you listen. Good stuff!

The best I've seen, but not perfect.
I'm a long time Beatles fan and a guitar player. I am very happy with this book. All parts are well transcribed. Unfortunately, there are flaws. For instance, one can hear that Paul McCartney does not play the exact same bass line for each verse of "The Word". This book uses repeat signs for the multiple verses. As a result, some nuances in this and other performances are lost - this is true of all four musicians. Also, if you read tablature only you may be frustrated when the tab'd parts don't sound right - on a few songs I've had to look at the notes and correct the tab in my book (i.e. bass guitar in measure 8 of the guitar solo on "Something"). Despite the mistakes, this book is worth more than what I paid for it. Even guitarists who haven't been playing for a long time will have hours of fun learning the rhythm guitar of John and the lead licks of George. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in tackling the music of the most prolific band in rock history.

Close but 'No Cigar'!
The overall work was great, BUT there are quit a lot of errors in this book. The song 'Yes It Is' calls the same chord -slash chords-three separate things! Make Up Your Mind, It can't be all three! This is a really good book to get started on but is NOT exactly right. I saw here standing there and She's a woman has in two places you playing bar chords when the chord is actually open!

Truly Compleat
There are A LOT of Beatles books out there, but this one takes the cake. It's really got everything. If you're like me and you while away your time analyzing the difference between the Ringo's and Paul's drumming on the White Album or wishing you could play George Martin's sped-up harpsichord solo on "In My Life" "In my life," then I recommend this book. And it's still nicely packaged and easy to tote around.
