Philip Farkas is now Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Music at Indiana University. I love this book!
My french horn teacher first introduced me to this book. It has so much information that is very important for new, and even some older, horn players to know! If you like this book you should also read Farkas' The Art of Musicianship!

good book overall
this is a book i would recommend to all f. horn players because it reallly helps the player to understand the instrument they're playing, which i think is very important. it runs first through history, and different mouthpieces, horns, etc. and then moves on to technique. i'm not quite through...

The Bible for Horn Players!
I rated this book for Beginners, but it really is for every level of player. It covers nearly every aspect, both physical and mental, of horn playing. I'm starting to play again after 12 years, and I wish I knew of this book when I started playing back in grade...
