Wicked Awesome
This book was a great inspiration to me! It taught me how to play the licks and the different styles of music that Kirk can play. I really enjoyed being able to finally play that solo in one!!

Kirk - Bringing melody to speed/thrash
I play guitar and Metallica is my favorite band - espicially Kirks solos!! To those who get bent at the thought that Kirk is overrated listen to Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, or John Petrucci - and many others. Now having said that, many guitarists are fast, but Kirk has managed to bring almost every song (I haven't listend to them post black album) alive perfectly with the solo, blending speed and accuracy with harmonies and melodic themes - this is something easier said than done, many guitarists are as fast, but how many can match a solo to the rhythms of Hetfield, Kirk is the only Master in that world!!!! Kirks playing is, no matter how you cut that slice of pie, expert level.

KIRK KICKS SOLID ASS
I play Guitar and Drums and my favorite guitarist in the whole world is Kirk Hammett. He is so good. He learnt from Joe Satriani and as you learn from the best, you become the best. Kirk rocks with solos like "Fade to Black", "Master of Puppets", etc.

UNBELIVABLE REITANO...HAMMETT RULES
when i first herd of this book from a freind i had to get it. It has a variety of songs by Metallica and blues riffs and so on. It has many aspects of how Kirk looks at the Guitar and the way he plays it. Its just unbelivable. Thanks to my mate "reitano" ive been playing better

Kirk Hammett kicks major ass!!!
This book is so cool,it has signatures licks from Kirk ranging is genres from blues to heavy metal and classic rock pull-off licks. And it also has over thirty complete solos transcribed, including intro solos from one and fade to black. This book is awesome. It also has an interview and gear setups. At the begining of this book it shows you the scales that he uses most often, so you can familiarize yourself with them and make learning his solos easier, and by getting yourself acquainted with these scales you can improvise with them and make hammett like solos yourself. Learn "To live is to Die" and "The Unforgiven" first they are to cool. Awesome [...] book.

KIRK IS THAT [...] GOOD
KIRK(with my respect and probably the respect of millions of other fans) is by far one of the best guitarists who ever lived!! its a good book it helped me alot. Give me another week and i'll learn the whole book! kirk is excellent but guitar players who have reached the status of a pro shouldn't overrate the guy. i mean yngwie and michael angelo now they are the masters of soloes. And if u guys think i am kidding try learning them too.But the book ain't for beginners!!

good book
metallica rocks and so do kirk hammetts solos, all of which are tabbed out perfectly in this book. It has all the great solos [except welcome home], some signature licks, an interview, gear listing and photos. this is definitely worth getting as trying to learn these solos will improve your speed and quality.

michael angelo batio
If i can take on michael angelo's solos,i think this is not that hard...of coz kirk is a fine guitarist. But trying to compare to Van Halen,Randy Rhoads and Jeff Beck,is far from par....anyway metallica's songs are far better than those of megadeth...

Frenzied guitar solos! Brilliant
Anyone who says Kirk's an over-rated Guitar player is completely full of it, having studied the solos in this book i have to say that he is one of the most prolific guitarists of his gnere. (and the best i have ever heard) Sadly though, no sanatarium.

Not bad
well, i'd have to give my opinion. And that would be that i like metallica alot. But that doesn't affect my opinion; i listen to lots of stuff. Considering how great of a guitarist i am... (man pulls out a gun and aims it at head)... i'm crap compared to kirk. not even some marty freidman could do switches and pull offs and hammer ons as fast as this guy. As for sky, lest he was as old as this guy or some child prodigy (which i doubt) that he couldn't be as good as this guy. This book helped me pin down lots of cords and solos from metallica because simple tablature wasn't very affective and was kinda confusing so i resorted to standard notation. And this book tells of the exact notes to hit and soforthe. I'd have to recommend this book to people with a sufficient amount of knowledge of the guitar. I think you should buy this book optimistic or not because it will surprise even those ignorant just because they hate metal/metallica. I myself was surprised.

Kirk rules!
Would you guys shut up about the whole controversy with Kirk and Dave Mustaine? Master of Puppets and Black are two of their top albums, and did Dave help write any for those? No way! As far as comparing Kirk to Marty Friedman, come on...I for one respect Marty as one hell of a guitarist as far as talent but he is in megadeth. HE IS IN MEGADETH. So those of you who even brought up his name saying he's better, why the heck did you buy this book?? You should give Kirk credit but if not go listen to megadeth sheesh. As far as the book, it shows how Kirk displays his ability through extremely fast notes and such. Good book for those that like Metallica/Kirk/good music, but not for megadeth fans who would say b.s. about marty friedman!

Hammett's Guitar Spirit
Listen to Hammett's solos. They have feeling and style in them.Compare these solo masterpieces to rock/heavy metal bands nowadays- they sound like potatoes, just loud and lifeless.Hammett has done an excellent job with these solos. If you don't want to be a potato like todays bands,YOU MUST BUY THIS BOOK!!.Hammett has done this for you and the rest of metallica's fans.Take this opportunity now and follow the path that Hammett had taken to true lead guitar. YOU ROCK HAMMETT!!

The Essential Metallica Fan Tab Book
If you're a true, dedicated Metallica fan who wants to learn how to play like Kirk, then get this book. It is by far the best Metallica tab book that I have, and I have many! It's NOT for a new guitar player because many of the skills are advanced. But use it to practice cuz it kicks a**!

Awesome!
This book is awesome. It shows Kirk's progress from his first wicked fast solos to his latest "How'd he do that?" solos. This book uncovers thirty of his best solos, but be warned, this book is for advanced guitarist but it is a good one to have around even if you're not. Oh, and Sky, unless you were Jimi Hendrix himself there is no way you are better than Hammett. Even if you could do all of his solos I bet you couldn't create one that good. MetallicA RuleS

Incredible
This is seriously the best book I have ever owned. It shows a variety of pieces in Kirk's style, the notation and tablature of course. Sometimes it has a description of the modes he uses and a tip or two to learn the solo. With the exception of a few strange Kill'em All fingerings, it shouldn't be extremely hard to play and is definitely worth it either way. This book also contains an interview, a collection of licks for close study, and a list of gear used by Kirk Hammett to produce his trademark sounds.
