Symphony No. 3 (Liturgique) (2 Pianos, 4 Hands). By Arthur Honegger (1892-1955). Edited by Dmitri Shostakovich. For Piano Duet, 2 Pianos, 4 Hands. Piano. 74 pages. Editions Durand #SLB5715. Published by Editions Durand (HL.50486277).
Written in 1946, Honeger's symphony was inspired by the tragic events of World War II, with movement titles evoking the requiem mass. Shostakovich most likely prepared this 2 piano/4 hands arrangement for his own pupils to study at the Leningrad Conservatory. This is the first time this arrangement has appeared in print.
