amazing Barber!
A very interesting piece, incredible for its brilliance in the panorama of modern chamber music.Why they don't play this?Because it's too diffucult!,not only from a "technical" point of view...unfortunately Barber is a composer often forgotten by european musicians,except some rare case of gorgeous recording(ensemble Wien-Berlin).

Lots of Rehearsal
Attempted this Samuel Barber piece with great expectations. Mistake! We have a talented amateur quintet but all felt that we probably do not have enough rehearsal (weekly) time to do it justice.

This piece is quite difficult in terms of key signatures and keeping it together as a whole. The work is typical Barber; many lyrical passages with the oboe, complex rhythms with many technical passages.
