An excellent start
Having taught strings professionally for 16 years now I find Strictly Strings Book 1 and excellent start for any student. It introduces the student to basic instrument care, parts of the violin, posture & the first eight pages of music use a simplified type of notation that's easy to use by youngsters. The pictures at the top of pages make it very clear to the student how 'fingerboard geography' works. The glossary at the back is useful and the transition to Strictly Strings Book 2 is seamless. Strictly Strings introduces aspects of theory and history in a concise manner throughout the book and follows up newly-learned facts with practical application straight away. The accompanying CD is entertaining with its electronic yet warm sounds and the accompaniment book is very well written. The violin book matches all other string books of the series perfectly. Given the amount of music in Strictly Strings 1, I find it great value for money and the best option for any beginning violinist.

It is really good for Beginners
It taught me from the basics of handling and holding the violin to more comeplex and fun songs, such as the ever loved Ode to joy, and other beethoven and Bach classics!
