Well-rounded competition piece
Since this piece was written for the Paris Conservatory flute competition, it is very good practice for technique and musicality. Though Dutilleux didn't like it, I think it is beautiful and has the most intriguing melody.

Heard at a Flute Competition...
I heard this piece at a flute competition, and it was a joy to listen to! It's a very beautiful song, and a little bit darker in it's tone. Recommended for intermediate... has some tricky tonguing sections and some really high notes.
