Rhapsody Brillante by Melody Bober. For Piano. Piano Solo; Solo. Signature Series. Late Intermediate. Sheet. 8 pages. Published by Alfred Music Publishing (AP.29138).

The romance and passion of a rhapsody are found in this expressive solo. Two keys, D minor and D major, are used in contrasting sections. D minor represents the passionate side while the D major section is more lyrical and romantic in nature. Technical facility is needed for the 16th-note passages found in both sections. Wide use of the keyboard makes this a virtuosic-sounding piece.

Brillant

I loved every bit of it and it's hard for me to find a song I literally love. I played it for my most recient recitale. I memorized it so quickly. I absolutely loved it. The intensity and passion.

Big but disjointed

All the varied elements of a late intermediate Rhapsody are here - a full sounding inverted chord intro, hand over hand passagework, a long chromatic scale and an octave section - but it doesn't work as a cohesive piece. Even the melody is disjointed, unlike most of Bober's music, and the...
