Book #2 for Beginners
I use this book as book #2 for my students. Book #1 I use Sam Ulano's ABC Guide. Once the studens can read notes I reenforce their knowledge of what they learned in Book #1 and start them with this book to learn to read more difficult combinations of figures.

Wouldn't teach without it!
I've had copies of this book since the early seventies. I teach out of and use this book almost as often as I use my metronome. A must have--from day one beginners to jazz swingers to rockers to freakishly independant polyrhythmic prog-ers.

THE DRUMMERS BIBLE
THIS IS A MUST FOR ANYONE SERIOUS ABOUT PLAYING DRUMS AND LEARNING THE ART OF INDEPENDENCE AND SYNCOPATION, I CANNOT SEE ANY TEACHER NOT USING THIS BOOK TO TEACH THE ART OF DRUMMING AND I CANNOT SEE ANY STUDENT WHO CAN DRIVE A BAND NOT BEING EXPOSED TO THIS BOOK. ITS THE ROOT OF DRUMMING,NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF MUSIC YOU PLAY. JAZZ, ROCK, R&B,FUNK, LATIN ETC. THE NEXT LOGICAL STEP AFTER THIS BOOK SHOULD BE JIM CHAPINS ADVANCED TECHNIQUES FOR THE MODERN DRUMMER.
