I have been away from music for a few years and always wanted to learn the flute, but I live in a rural area and no teachers are available. This book is fantastic and the accompanying CD makes it really easy to understand and follow along. I would highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn, whether they have a teacher or not - excellent book. I don't understand the few who have put negative reviews on the book - did they actually use it? I think not.

Really bad book
Would not advice to buy this book. As said, this book has good fingering but useless others and practices. There is no point in buying this book, as fingering practices can be found elsewhere than wasting 10$ for this useless material. For beginners, suggest to find the book in other stores rather than spending 10$ for nothing.

I love this book! I learned how to play the flute without an instructor using this book & CD. The voice on the CD gives you instruction & tips before each piece/lesson. Then you hear the piece played on the flute so you'll know what you're striving for. Once you've practiced enough to feel ready, then you play along with the music. I loved Book 1 so much, I'm excited to move on to Book 2! I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to learn to play the flute on their own.

This is a great book for adult beginners who don't have the time to take traditional lessons, but still want to play the flute. The book is clearly written and the CD is like having someone there helping you.

worst I've ever seen.
The book has good fingering charts and information bout musical notation but the practice excercises and the rest of the book are useless, worthless, and I wasted my money buying it. I would absolutely NOT RECOMMEND anyone buying the book.

This book was so great! I played flute when I was young but haven't played in over ten years. This helped me learn to read each note (I'm bad at reading music) very quickly and start basic songs. I enjoy learning by simple repetitive exercises, therefore this book was awesome. The end has some very nice pieces. In addition, having the CD accompanyment was AWESOME and helped me quite a bit. This book is so great-I want it for Piano too!!!

Nice book for beginning players!
I found this book to be a wonderful resource for beginners, and the accompanying disk was just great. Having the ability to re-play each piece until perfected to the point of your choosing, or moving on whenever you desire is a great idea. I would recommend it to any beginning player.

Learning to Play without an Instructor!
I have been playing the flute on and off for about 5 years. I am currently in Iraq thus, do not have the opportunity to hire a local flute teacher. However, this booklet and its CD has easily enabled me to actually improve on my own!
