Decent

Many of the pieces sound like they are actually from the movie. Some pieces arranged oddly, and many do not have a good end. Good for something to play for a break away from other work.

11 year old loves this book!

My son has been playing cello for the school year so he's a beginner. He has been taking private lessons - suzuki method. He begged me to buy this book for him after he watched a youth orchestra play Pirates of the Carribean on a Youtube video. He practices cello longer each day because he works on these songs. Sometimes his teacher will work with him a little bit on them, but this book is mostly his supplement to work on outside of the Suzuki lessons. He could play at least part of three or four of the songs immediately (not perfectly!) and he was thrilled that his music sounded like the movie. I think this book must be for the beginner to intermediate.

CD Accompaniment

I love to play along with other instruments (even if they are pre-recorded) So I always look for reviews that mention what I want to know about it. The music is synthesized, but not in an overly painful way. You play along with a xylophone. Which I find very odd. You can definitely pick out the melody quickly, but it seems very out of place. According to the directions if your CD player has a balance adjustment you can adjust the volume of the xylophone. All in all I wish they had used real instruments (I always wish that) and that you played along with a cello, not a xylophone.

Highly recommended.

I bought this for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas. I was looking for music that was exciting for her as she was getting bored with the classical she was playing. This music has been a big hit. She now plays everyday without asking. The CD's make it very easy to play with, plus we listen to the music when she isn't playing :) Highly recommended.

Sounds like the movie!

My 13yo daughter loves this book. It is challenging, but not so hard as to frustrate her. The accompaniment sounds just like the movie.

Fun way to keep them practicing!

I got this and the Harry Potter for cello sheet music for my 12-year-old for Christmas, as she is a fanatic about both series of movies. Over the holiday break, when she had no new music from her teacher to practice, it gave her something challenging to work on, and kept her at it longer than normal. This is her fourth year playing, and some things are beyond her ability, but she's self-teaching and playing more smoothly and accurately every day.

Great, but cd not like soundtracks

Great book, LOTS of songs, I enjoy it very much. Highly recommended. The cd is not a live orchestra, and it's in a different key than the original soundtrack, so in that sense, it's kind of cheap. But overall, great!

Best (and only) cello "POTC" cello book

This is the best "POTC" I've played. I'm torn between "He's a Pirate" and "Wheel of Fortune" as my favorite. I hope the make more "POTC" cello books.

Great!

I really enjoy this book. I think the Pirates soundtrack is one of the best out there. I always tried to figure out the songs, but now that I have the book, and I play them with accuracy. It's so much fun to play. My favorite is the 2 Davy Jone's Organ songs. Some tricky time signatures, though (6/8) But as long as you know how the song is supposed to sound, you should be able to figure it out. I listen to the cd inthe car, too :D
