I <3 Only Hope
I was so excited when my sheet music came in the mail. When I learned to play it, I played it about 1,000 times now... no joke. The most beautiful song I've learned to play yet. Not exactly the original as the version of the song Mandy Moore sang, but this version is actually more beautiful then the original... in my opinion. Its fun to play solo, yet it sound most beautifully when played alone. You most definatley wont be disappointed with this sheet music.

I wish this was Switchfoots version.
Switchfoot sang/wrote the original (I think they play it in the credits at the end of A Walk to Remember) and from what I can tell by reading the lyrics, it's not a love song like it was sung in the movie-- it's more of a worship song like allot of switchfoot songs are. Still, this is a beautiful and simple piece.

Absolutely beautiful..
The second time I had listened to the song, I focused only on the piano, and soon enough I couldn't tear myself away from the piano. It may be transposed a step down from the original key, but it is just as fun to play.. I highly recommend this piece to every pianist.

Captivating
When I heard this piece in Walk to Remember, I fell in love with it and immediately purchased the piece. I really liked the arrangement and the vocal range was perfect, but i was dissapointed that it was transposed a half-step down from the original key.

One of the best songs ever written but..
it was not written by mandy moore! It was written and originally sung by Jon Forman (Switchfoot) and I think this sheet music should be called "Only Hope - Switchfoot" not "Only Hope- Mandy Moore". I Overall GREAT song beautiful! easy to play and i suggest playing it on acoustic guitar as well!

Perfect
I really loved the song when I heard it in the movie, so I was determined to master those flats...(i'm more of a sharp girl myself). It was definately worth it. This song is full of additional notes to fill the gaps between melodies. It's one of those songs that you can pull out and play again and again and not get tired of hearing it.

Beautiful Piano Piece - Great motivator
I am a piano teacher who is always looking for piano pieces that will motivate my students. This piece is so beautiful that my students work extra hard to learn it. It also comes in an easy version which I recommend for students around level 3.

Don't Be Fooled
Yes the music is beautiful, but DON'T BE FOOLED. This particular sheet music is written a half step down from the original in the movie and what Mandy Moore sings. It sound great if you do not have a crisp ear, but do not try to sing it accuratly with the piano, because you will be singing off key and it will sound very flat/ Plus when music is written only a Half step down from the original, it is almost impossible to get you voice to sound as clear and as crisp and on key as you are used to . Beware of this. If you take a look inside the music, look down at the bottem of the first page and read the fine print... It reads, "Original Key: C# minor. This edition has been reproduced down one half-step to be more playable."

Keeps the feel of the Mandy Moore version
Very good arrangement. Same key as the Mandy Moore recording. I don't know about the key that Switchfoot performed it in. It's a nice combination of the vocal line along with the accompaniment part. With a decent singer (one that doesn't rely on the piano to find her part) you can make slight changes to this arrangement to sound more like the original accompaniment. I only wish there was a cello part I could find - guess I'll have to write it out myself.

Amazing
This is a really nice piece, and fun to sing to. I think that all the people who are saying that this is a terrible piece, hard to sing to, not in the right key, that the vocal line does not fit the accompaniment are CRAZY. If you don't like the piece stop complaining and get something else you like. if you are so superior that you are able to give such a terrible review then you should be able to transpose it into a different key. If you are saying that the vocals don't fit the piano line, than either you suck at singing or suck at playing , or both. making the composers of this piece look bad isn't going to make you feel better that you cannot be as accomplished in this song a you would like. Get an easier version or something but don't be saying that the composers didn't do well, because if you want to be saying something like that YOU should try composing a piece of music that is a top top seller, a favorite among many people and in a major movie!

unusually written.
I am lukewarm about this piece of music. The sentiments are nice but difficult to sing well. It almost seemed in some sections that the vocal line was working against the accompaniment. Not for beginners.

my favorite
This song is so beautiful. I enjoy playing it so much. Out of all the songs i know, this is my favorite to play. Sure, it was a little difficult at first, just a few parts here and there, but you get them down really fast just as long as you practice. I learned this song so fast because I practiced it so much just because I loved playing it. and now im playing it for my next piano recitle. This is an excellent piece.

Loved it!
I found the other reviews very helpful for this piece. I was very nervous about ordering it originally because I had a week and a half to learn the piece. I have had five years of piano lessons about five years ago, so It has been a while since I've played on a regular basis. It was challenging the first couple of days but once you get the little hairy details down it is so much fun to play and sounds very similar to the original that Mandy Moore sings too.

Great,
"Only Hope' is a fabulous piece to work with. Overall, it's not that difficult, though some of the rhythms are iffy and there are a few awkward page-turns... One observation however that I noticed was that this arrangement is slighlt altered; Right hand follows the vocals instead of doing its own thing, which makes the piece easier to sing with, but takes away from the complexity that the original track has.

Makes Me Want to Watch the Movie Again ;)
"So I lay my head back down, and I life my hands and pray, to be only yours I pray, to be only yours I know now you're my only hope..." To this very day those words still haunt me. The melody of this song sung by the multi-talented Mandy Moore is so very breathtaking. I can't play piano but the main reason why I bought it was to play the main melody on clarinet. Even on clarinet it's awesome. I have heard the piano version of this song and I must say that it is really lovely. I totally reccomend it.

A Favorite of my Soloists
This piece is wonderful. It starts out nice and easy, warming you up to the song, then gets harder just a bit so that it stays interesting. I have used this piece for soloists ever since it came out, and boy is it a hit! Vocal, piano, guitar, or even flute playing vocal lines... everyone enjoys playing "Only Hope" If you don't have it yet, shame! Buy now!

Only Hope is such an amazing song and the book does it justice. While it is not in the original key that Mandy Moore sang it in, it is very close. It took me while to get good at singing it and playing it on the piano, but ultimately I am glad I purchased it! If you want to learn how to sing Only Hope, buy this book.

awesome
This is one of my all time favorite songs and this version is beautiful. It has a few hard chord changes, but most of it is easy or slightly difficult (coming form someone who has played for a few years). This version includes the melody of the song, which is great for those who like to be able to play without someone singing along.

When I first heard this song, I immediately wanted the music. It's not too hard, and if you have access to other instruments (ie. cellos, violas etc.) you can really make this song sound absolutely amazing. It has a very accurate piano part and the whole arrangement is really good!

Beautiful for piano and soprano vocalist
This is an amazing song; Mandy Moore did a really good job on the vocalizing. Only a really good soprano can make this song sound good, and Mandy does it all! I've been playing piano for 4 years and this piece is very beautiful and one of my favorite songs to play.

Music at it's best!!!
I found this song to be the most beautiful vocal solo ever!! i am not asinger but i am a musician!! I play instruments from brass to woodwind to piano and percussion!! I love music!!! One of my friends sang this song at a concert and everyone was just blown away!! The words are something special and the composer should be so proud and he/she is a fantastic composer and if i ever make it into the big time i will reccommend this composer and would love to work with him!!! Playing in C sharp minor (the "original" key) is really really hard, and the arranger clearly had the sanity of the players in mind when moving it down. I say kudos!

Amazing for voice and piano!
I have played piano for seven years, and it took me about one week to learn it, and about 4-6 weeks to "clean and polish it". I would recommend it to any one who love the music in the movie. The only thing different is it's in a slightly different key. (It makes almost no diference.) It goes a little high, but it's really very vocally managable; I'm an alto. It's not too easy and not too hard.

awesomeness!
I got this piece for Christmas. I started playing it right away, and i LOVED it from the start! It gets harder as the song goes on, but it's AMAZING! I've been teaching myself the piano for about a year, and this piece has proved to be challenging, but nowhere near impossible!!! You will NOT regret getting this song. It's GORGEOUS!

this song is basically the best song i've ever owned. although it took me forever to learn it and play it all the way through but that's cause i've only been playing for a little over a year. if you've been playing for over a year, you can definitely play this song and for sure need to get it. YES!

Lovely, inspirational, and emotional
The title of this review explains it all, my Daughter bought the music sheet to play it at I and my husbands anniversary party. It sounded like the sng itself, and made me think of the rollercoaster of a relationship my husband an I have been through sor the past 17 years. Its just amazing, and I thank you guys for having the music sheet for it.

It never gets old!
I performed this song for a school talent show 2 years ago, and I still enjoy playing and singing it just as much as I did then. Transposing it up a half-step was really easy, and it sounds great in either key.

Beautiful!
I've been playing for nine years, I learned to play this song about a year ago and I never get tired of it. It took me four days to learn and longer to memorize, and it was challenging, but very well worth it. The piano is amazing. (but with someone singing it as you play, it drowns the piano a lot) I would highly recommend this song. It is very beautiful once you learn it, isn't boring, and you'll never get tired of it.

**Touching, Meaningful Song...**
I loved the movie "A Walk to Remember" since the first time I saw it and I've known a lot of people who had cancer (including my Father whom God has healed) and also my friend recently passed away from cancer. This takes true meaning in my heart and it is wonderful to be able to sing and play this soong at the best of times.

Not bad...
This is a pretty good arrangement. Doubtful that you can find the orignal anywhere. It is written a half step down as it states on the music. It's not hard to transpose it to the original key. I think it sounds better to sing and play for the full effect. The song is beautiful. For an intermediate player it can be learned in a few wks or less.

very nice lyrics...but to high at places
When I first heard Only Hope on A Walk to Remember I loved it!Mandy Moore sung it so beautifuly.I have the sound track to the movie, and Only Hope is probaly the song I listen most to.I always like to sing along with it, but in places it is too high.I am an alto and I can not sing the high parts.I think the song could be sung just as good in a lower key...but hey who am I to compalain. I am glad the music worked out for Mandy when she sang it. I give Only Hope 4 stars.

It's wonderful!
I have played the piano for over three years, and I was thrilled when I learned I was going to learn Only Hope. The song has a lot of meaning to it. Me being a religious person, I loved that the song was more to God, not some crush, like in the movie. I reccomend this piece to anyone!

I love this song
Although i cannot play the piano. I do sing and I am going to try out for my church choir. This is the piece i chose. I chose it because it is a very beautiful song with a lot of meaning to me. It's not truly about a boy like it was in the movie. It's meant to be about God. I highly recommend this song for any purpose.

great song..but..
this is a great song to play for intermediate players. any 3rd or 4th year player would breeze through this their first time, then have to fine tune the timing. it's in 6/8, but this shouldnt be any problem for more advanced players. it MIGHT be a problem for beginners..but if ur talented enough u can make it through in about 2 months. if its too hard u can always get the easier version..which i have also and is not as good sounding (obviously) but still brings out the melody decently. this would sound great in a church with a violin and keyboard accompinament during christmas time (which is what i plan to do). so yeah buy this piece its definitely worth it.

Great song, good arrangement
The key is different than the original recording - it even says it on the bottom of the music. The arrangement is good though - it doesn't sound like something you'd play at an elementary recital, but it's not something you'll have to work on a month to master. Beautiful song to play in church as well since it was sung by a Christian band originally.

pretty, but difficult arrangement
this is overall a beautiful song with a wonderful melody, but this particular arrangement is different from what it is in the movie. 1st of all, it's in a different key. 2nd, it's pretty easy in the beginning, but after the chorus it gets tricky because they mixed in the violin part in the music wich makes it tricky. the bass and treble parts get really close together, making it difficult to play.

I recommend this music sheet the best I've played. This sheet isn't meant for guitar players so don't buy it! It sounds great like the music itself. For people who think the keys are wrong...maybe you guys are the ones who plays the sheet wrong cause I've been playing it all the time and notice no wrong keys! So recheck your way of playing it in piano

This song is excellent, and sounds very much like the original song. It is quite difficult, though, but sounds great when you learn to play it. It's also written half a step down from the original, but not oo big of a problem.

You will fall in love!
I read the other reviews, and what does it matter that it's not in the original key? Transpose it if you're not satisfied, it's not so difficult! When I first heard this song I just knew that I had to get the sheet music. I've been playing piano for almost 11 years, so of course Only Hope is to easy for me, but I still love to play it, it gives me a break from Liszt and other music of that type. I learned it in 10 minutes or so! This is a really beautiful piece that lies deep in my heart.

Just because it wasn't exactly like the one in the movie doesn't mean it isn't good. If you truly like the song, then it shouldn't matter what key it is or if it has the melody, all that should matter is that it is beautiful. So There!!!

Its not a mandy moore song...
I just wanted to point out that however good Mandy Moore sounds singing it, this song is written and performed originally by Jon Foreman and SWITCHFOOT. The song is about God. Not a boy. I like the song but think that Switchfoot deserves the credit for the song[...]

It's not perfect.
It's close to what it sounds like in the movie, but of course it ain't exactly the same. It 's a key lower and the beautiful riffs have been taken out or simplified to a point where it's not beautiful. It is still good though, but if you're looking for the exact piece that comes out in the movie, don't bother with this one.

Oh My
I was just so impressed with how nice and completely smoothe it sounds. It was pretty easy for my and I admit I'm not a very good piano player. Since its so slow, it's much easier to play than many other pop songs I've tried. Also its pretty easy to sing along with while you're playing it.

Hmm...
After I saw the movie and the great piano part, I knew I had to buy this piece. I love to sing and I took piano for five years. The piece is pretty, but not as good if you want to play and sing to it. It's not like the real version because it has the melody in the accompaniment, so that was disappointing. Also, they changed the key by a half step to make it more "playable." I wanted the original, difficult version because it was beautiful. I'm still looking for that version, hoping someone has it in sheet music.

I absolutely love this song. The movie still brings tears to my eyes and playing the song does the same thing. When I play it guys tell me to stop, but they say the only reason is because they don't want to cry. If you love a good challenging but fun piece, I recommend this song! It ROCKS!!!!!!!

Sooo.. Good
I love Mandy Moore and her movie "A walk to remember", This is my most favourite song of her, but I don't really like this piano arr. because the original accompaniment didn't contain melody line of the song. Hmm....And the most reason why I love this song is because it's a beautiful sacred music. I'd ever heard it before as a Praise song. It's about me and my Lord.

Very Accurate! surprised!
For those who are good: This version is very accurate. It's even harder than the piano in the CD because it includes voice line. Maybe a 3/10 difficulty level. I even added notes and chords to make it harder to play and sound better. You play piano and have someone play main chords with right hand and arpeggios with left on a keyboard on string mode, it will sound even better. Have at least 2 years of experience to feel good with your results, and at least 5 to add notes by yourself (you can ask someone else). Very good version, I love it.

Very easy, but not in the right key!
I thought this song was a great song. It has a great tempo, and the music just flows perfectly. I would recommend this to any piano player out there. It is not a difficult song to learn, and once you get it, you will sound amazing. Guarenteed! The only con, is that it is not in the same key as the movie. But if you have a keyboard try composing it up 1/2 a step.

Beautiful and Easy Piano Piece
It took me 2 days to learn and perfect this song. It is really a wonderful piano piece, but not exactly a challenge. It is fun to play because now that I learned it, I can pick it up and play it any time I want. Simply Beautiful
When I saw the movie "A Walk to Remember" and bought the soundtrack, I knew a had to get the sheet music for it. I don't play it on the piano, but I sing and absolutely love the song. It's very beautiful and pretty easy to sing as well. The only thing I didn't like was that the sheet music was written in a lower key than the song on the soundtrack and in the movie, which was kind of annoying since I often sing along to the song. But other than that, it's definitely worth buying.

It's FANTASTIC!!!!
Ever since I saw "A Walk to Remember" I'd been wanting to get the music for it. I finally ordered this song, and when I got it I was...I can't think of a good word! I love playing the piano and singing, this music is great either way. The music is a little bit difficult..I mean, you can't just sit down and play it right away, but with practice it's fine. I sang the song at my church also..and I found since they lowered it a half key it's a whole lot easier to sing AND play. Buy it!!!!!! It's GREAT!!! You won't be disappointed.

I believe that this song was beautifully done. The sheet music is just as pretty as the song. However, it was transposed from a 1/2 a key down because the original song was in C sharp minor. But I would recommend it if you liked the song and it's a nice song to even impress people with once you've got it down

Only Hope is Great!!!......
When I saw the movie A Walk To Remember, I instantly fell in love with the Only Hope song.I decided to buy the sheet music. I have been taking piano for almost 6 1/2 years now, and I at first found this song to be a little challenging in some parts of it. The music is also written a half step lower than the original music so it will be easier to play. I think this song would great for anyone with at least one or two years of piano experience. The music's pretty easy to play and it still sounds almost exactly like the original! Within a couple of weeks of purchasing the sheet music to Only Hope, I was able to play it easily! This piece is VERY BEAUTIFUL and I would recommend it to anyone!!!

Great Song
I heard this song on the movie and decided to buy it. I am very pleased with how much it sounds like the original song (except that it is in a different key to make it easier to play). I even wrote out the cello part they have on the soundtrack so that my friend could play along with me. :) It is not terribly hard to learn, either, if you have had experience playing the piano.

So Easy And Beautiful
I was given this music about 3 weeks ago to play in my school's fine art's night and have already memorized it. I am 18 and have been playing since i was seven years old, so this was fairly simple for me. I have a Roland digital piano which will transpose the music for me as i play, so it sounds almost the same as the movie. I am also working with a violinist so that the vocalist and I can add that to it. It is beginning to sound almost exactly like the soundtrack.

Worth it.
This song is worth playing and practicing for. I spent about two months trying to perfect and memorize it. It's totally worth the time and if it were in the original key it'd be EXACT but it's played one half step down so it's easier. Either way, it is wonderful and slow, so it's okay if you trip on some of the key; it'll still sound wonderful.

This song is teriffic! I didn't buy it on-line- i bought it at a local music store. But it's the same thing. Anyway, this is a beautiful peice, and I'm sure that most people enjoy playing it. It's a bit hard in some measures but overall, it's great!

This is the most beautiful song, if you're doing a concert at school (all you singers) this is a perfect song. I'm actually going to try out for a solo with it soon. I hope this helps all of you out that are trying to find a song to sing. I know all the other reviews I read really helped me.

beautiful
This song is very beautiful if sung right! The whole feel is lovely. Just a word of caution, for those people with not very big ranges (singing), then you might find this a hassle. It goes down to a G and up to and E flat. But if you move it up it gets quite high. But it is still lovely if you get the right singer!

nice to play
I've been playing the piano for about 7 years... so i picked it up pretty easily. this is a really nice piece, and I think most people who've played this will agree with me. Even though it sounds a little better in the movie, it still sounds pretty good, so go buy it!

Beautiful song!
This song is one of my absolute favorites of all time. It is lovely and a lot of fun to play and sing-- and my brother may start working on the guitar soon :-). It is a little difficult, espcially rhythmically, but if you've heard the song that difficulty is allayed. Buy it! It's definitely worth it- people are always asking me to play it for them!

Really nice piece
Though I much prefer the Switchfoot version of the song, as it is the original, this was a nice variation of the song for a female to sing, or if you don't know guitar and want to play it on piano. (Though I wish they would have sheet music for the original version, as Switchfoot deserves more credit than they are getting.) I was thinking it would be much harder than it really was, so I was happily surprised that I was able to pick it up pretty easily. I've been playing piano for 7 years, but I think if you've heard the song before, even a late beginnger might be able to play it. I really enjoy it, well worth buying!

Deeper Meaning
What an incredible song. I knew that there was more to it than a girl singning to a guy, and to me it was a total praise song to the Lord. It makes so much more sense, now, that Switchfoot did it before Mandy Moore. A great piece, no matter how you interpret it!!

beautifully written
This is a great piece for late beginners to play. I picked this piece up pretty quickly because I've been playing for over 7 years. But the problem is that I'm only 11 and I can't reach all those notes. This is a great piece for singing and for playing. It reminds you of sad days. It it so touching that it makes you want to cry when you listen to it. You won't regret buying this song.

Best song for favorite movie
The music itself is fairly easy. If you're a beginner you can play the vocal part with your right hand then play the bass line or you can play the whole piano line if your intermediate or advanced. I've got it down now, and i still love to play it and it's easy to sing along to.

Pretty well done....
but I wish that it was the same as in the movie. I bought it for a friend who heard me play it and wanted to have a hack at it. I got it and it wasn't the same thing. In the end, I wrote out my own transcription and gave it to her. This would be excellent for a beginner, but not if you have been playing for longer than three years.

Not Bad
Well, personally i like Switchfoot's version better. Jon wrote it and the song was out LONG before mandy ever got her hands on it. Jon's passionate vocals are what really makes this song so amazing. Now if you are a girl, then sure, this version makes it a little easier to sing along with. It was not written as a love song between two people, rather it is a song of the fact that Jesus is our only hope and in His arms alone can we rest. A beautiful song about surrender to our Lord!

this song was too easy to learn, it was in the wrong key, and it sounded nothing like the actual song. if you're looking for an ACURATE version of the song, i wouldn't recommend this. the only perk is that it is very pretty to play and it impresses people who never actually heard the entire song.

Props to my boys
This song rocks and I knew that way before Mandy even knew it existed. If you like this song, check out Switchfoot, the guys who really wrote this song and half the sound track for the movie. I think their original version is better than Mandy's just because Jon rocks on guitar (not orignally a piano piece, but does have some keys). Thanks guys for your ministry! Just so you know, this song is about Jesus being our only hope.

Not a piano accompaniment
This song was written beautifully in terms of the music and lyrics, so naturally it's great to just be able to pull the music out and start playing it whenever you're in the mood. However, this particular piece of easy-sounding sheet music was made specifically for the piano. If you're more into playing the song rather than singing it, then this will do fine, since the melody is built right in without many chords at all (though the rhythm can be tricky at times). However, if you're looking for a piano accompaniment, you might want to find sheet music that's more involved and with a harder difficulty level. All in all, it sounds much simpler than the cd but is still a beautiful piece of music.

Pathetically Easy
When I heard this song on the cd, i was phsyed to play it, but its was a major disappointment. Incredibly easy, it sounds nothing like the real version and someone made the mistake of mixing the melody line with the piano accompaniment. Still sounds nice but if you've had more than 5 years of playing, figure it out yourself.

Great for Voice
I've been taking voice lessons for about 3 monthes now, and I was able to get through this song, although I'm still working on it. The more you practice, the more you can hit the notes. The higher notes were hard for me, but with the piano accompaniment it was easier to get along to. Also with the accompaniment you feel like you're Mandy on A Walk to Remember! I'd recommend this to anyone~!

An Easy Song
When I first heard this song on the CD, I thought it had to be very difficult to play on the piano. Really, it's not! It took me only a short while to figure out all the key changes and the 6/8 time signature, It's an easy song once you get to know it. I recommend having at least one year of piano just to get the feel of it all but it's a breeze to get through and is a beautiful piece to play!

Not at all the same
This sheet music was not what I expected. It is not the same as the piece in the movie, and you are better off transposing it yourself to make it sound more exact. I found a trapnsposed version that was exactly the same and learned it for a few recitals, and it sounded much better. however this version is a lot easier than the real thing.

This song was really beautiful, and, although I'm a beginner piano player, it was easy enough to learn. It's a half step different from the original key and not EXACTLY the same, but it is a pretty arrangement. I highly recommend it.

Not a bad arrangement...
This song isn't too difficult to play. It's written in 6/8 time, which takes some getting used to as opposed to 4/4 time. This arrangement is also in a different key than the original song. The arrangement is in C minor, but the original is in C# minor. If you want it to sound like the original, you'd have to transpose the arrangement up a half step (or a minor/diminished 2nd, same thing). The chorus of the song, however, is in an open key signature (or no key signature), which could give beginner piano players trouble switching from one key to another. Overall the arrangement is relatively easy, although it is not exactly the same as the original piano score because it writes in the melody as part of the piano accompaniment. I've only been playing piano for a year and a half, and I was able to get through it well enough, so others who have more experience should be able to get through it quite nicely. Great song though!

Excellent Song, But music is Different
this song is wonderul. but the piano score is not the same as in the song. it's also not in the same key. you'll get to play it and make it sound like only hope. but if you are a music teacher and wish to play it like the actual piano in the music, this is not the right "only hope" piano score.

I loved this song when I heard it and I just had to play it on the piano! After having lessons for over six years, it only took me a few tries to play the song. You would have to have roughly three years to play Only Hope. It's even easy to memorize, but it's not in the same key as the actual song.

it actually isn't in c minor as it says on the site. it was transposed FROM c minor. i got this sheet music today and i find it to be fairly easy, it changes from 3 flats to the key of c several times during the song. i didn't think it was easy enough for a first year piano player though. perhaps three or four years.
