Every Intermediate to Advanced pianist needs to be playing the music of Chopin and the Nocturnes are somewhat difficult but are more laid back than his faster pieces so it's a good place to begin with his music.

Absolutely my favorite edition, and favorite works. I got introduced to the Nocturnes with the Posthumus Nocturne C# Minor, which is my favorite Nocturne. Fingering is great and I have no problems with it. Although in the Posth. Nocturne C# Minor, I feel like it's extremely different from other editions. I still really like all the Nocturnes, and especially like the spiral bounding! It gives me works to play at my solo recital, so I'm really excited for it. I'm labeling them as advanced because you really need to be playing the piano for a long time to get an understanding of these works, and play them with all the expression, dynamics, and etc. They have so much expression and feeling that you can't just play it as a beginner. I absolutely love this edition and it couldn't be any better!

I've long been an advocate of the Palmer editions, both as a teacher and a performer. Notations about fingering, pedaling, explication of ornaments, are such a quick study! Now, the spiral bound edition adds to the ease of study. If publishers were at all savvy, they would spiral bound ALL these wonderful classics!

I purchased this book for Nocturne in E flat major. I have been quite pleased with this composition, especially for my capabilities. I have not attempted to play the other titles yet in this book, but based upon the one song I have been tackling, I would recommend this product. I am 58 years old and have been trying to rehone skills from many years ago.
