Students Understand What They're Doing
This level develops scales and key signatures in a way that students actually understand what they are doing. Using a discovery approach, they gradually work their way around the circle of fifths, adding the sharp or flat to the previous key signature. Compound time is taught with the dotted quarter as the unit of pulse, greatly simplifying that presentation. Several solo pieces help students develop freedom of movement on the keyboard as well. Kudos to a great book.
