FOUND: The best score for Mikado!
This score for my favorite Gilbert & Sullivan light opera is the best I've found. It's easy to sight read, even for someone moderately advanced, yet maintains all the best chords and key changes of the original, or professional score.

lovely
The choir I'm in is currently rehearsing to perform this operetta. I like it so far, and the sheet music is very helpful - although I must admit that the chorus version of the score is a bit unsatisfactory. Overall, this is definitely good to have around.

New Cover - Same Old Score
The new cover is lovely, the discography is nice. The problem with this score lies with the fact that it is the same old edition that Schirmer has been printing since the 1920s - with errors and inaccuracies included. There is a newly engraved edition put out by Dover (which I ended up buying after I picked up a copy of this one). It has measure numbers, and is thoroughly researched and corrected according to Sullivan's manuscript and early editions. To top it off, it costs less ($14.95). If you've used the Schirmer for decades and can't bear to part with the familiar, this is the score for you. If you're new to the piece or interested in greater accuracy and faithfulness to the composer's original, buy the Dover.
