Excellent
Great place to start on guitar or take a refresher with excellent examples, etc. I've done several CD's with tab & music but this one is the best so far. Even shows what fingers to use on some examples/songs.This is a great deal and very usefull; music is lively and explains in detail what you need to do to improve. Metal Lead guitar is great too. Both build on previous lesson pages in a very organized way.

Hell Yeah
As a beginner I have been looking for instruction that is based around the style of music I love. It is well laid out, well presented, and is focussed on how to play metal! I learnt more from this book in 1 hour than I had for the last year of one on one lessons. I now have all of Troys books. Thanks Troy, you are a bloody legend!!!! Keep it METAL!!!

Troy Stetina is a great teacher, and with this book I learned and progressed further in my guitar ability. I spent a bunch on other instructional material, but this book's easy to understand presentation is top-notch. I highly recommend it. [...]

Haven't you picked it up yet
I bought an Electric Guitar and a Multi effect processor with the hope of playing like Ritchie Blackmore. I knew some basic chords and played this stuff for a while and it sounded awful. So I just gave a shot by ordering this book. In just a week's time I was playing some cool riffs. Now I am on this book for around 1 months and I have almost finished this book. This book has great lessons and after a few lessons, there is a practice song, which uses all these lessons. It took my playing to a new height. Now I am able to play some Metallica, Black Sabbath. I swear this is the first book you should touch if you dont know where to start. Now I have already ordered the Vol2 and I also have a clear Road Map from Mr.Stetina as how I can proceed. In case I become like Blackmore and release an album, Troy's name will be the first in my acknowledgement list. I will proudly claim that Troy Stetina is my teacher. Ha ha.....

A great learning motivator
The best thing about this book is that everything starts off with some level of difficulty, but Troy Stetina pulls off everything so well you want to be able to play like him, so you are motivated to pick up those skills. And really, it's like an intensive and yet useful course to take the ultimate beginner into the intermediate level of serious metal playing. Will be getting Vol.2 soon!
