Russian about Russian music
This is an incredible piece. In Russia it's supposed to be of college-level difficulty. [When you study piano/music in Russia, it takes 7 years in music school (in parallel to regular school, classes are in the afternoons/evenings), then 3 years in musical college and then conservatory]. So this piece was normally played in musical college. It requires not only excellent technique, but somewhat mature interpretation. The original song (by Glinka) is about a lark-male who lost his beloved. So in most part the music is melancholic (and very picturesque! you can image a zillion of things). But at the end it's in major and ocean-wide mighty but very fluid and transparent at the same time (can you believe it?), sort of a statement that life is good after all. I can't resist not to mention that my daughter (15yo) who plays this piece will perform it in Carnegie Hall this year. I'm double proud :)

Amazing
This is definitely my favourite piece that I've ever played. It is GORGEOUS. I would love to find out more information on this piece and the song that it comes from, but information seems to be scarcely found. Highly recommended for musical and advanced players. A beautiful, beautiful, stunning piece.
