Kelly by Brian Hogg. For concert band. Brolga Music Symphonic Repertoire. Grade 4. Score and set of parts. Published by Brolga Music Publishing Company (BL.YMB009).
ISBN M720038087.
Ned Kelly is undoubtedly Australia's most well known outlaw and fold hero. This "musical" portrait" depicts some of the vents in the Kelly saga and tries to convey some of the character of Ned Kelly.
The first tune features, "My name is Edward Kelly," present the boldness and daring of the Kelly gang. "Kelly's farewell to Greta" is amore pensive song which depicts the separation of the family as Ned realises he can no longer stay at his home in Greta. The tracking down of the Kelly gang by the police and the final confrontation is introduced by the tune of "Stringybark Creek."
"Kelly" was commissioned by Eltham College Concert Band for their tour of China in December 1987. Conductor: Mr Rob McWilliams.
