Description: Staccatos and legatos combine in this song to help develop technique. Some syncopation is included. There are dynamic changes throughout to give color to this jazzy little swinging piece. It is easy to learn and has a good upbeat melody. Purpose: To give beginning students of all ages a rhythmic and melodic piece of music to encourage practicing. The hands fall into position nicely. Suggestions for Instruction: Teach hands together through measure eight. Then teach hands separately, with careful counting. Add dynamics and pay close attention to staccatos. Key: C minor.
