Part 7 is grade 3a of the series. Six etudes focus on technical issues, but I didn't much see the benefit in them. Thompson focuses on the difference between rhythmic form and lyric form at this level. I like the way Thompson has created pieces that feature similar skills as the pieces in the red course. With Colors Flying parallels Spinning Song, for example. Favorite arrangements include Fifth Nocturne, Grand Polonaise (Chopin), and Simple Aveu (Simple Confession). Hymn to the Sun appears in an easier arrangement than in the red course.
