Jeux d'eau by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937). Edited by Maurice Hinson. For Piano. Masterworks; Piano Solo; Solo. Alfred Masterwork Edition. Impressionistic; Masterwork. SMP Level 10 (Advanced). 16 pages. Published by Alfred Music Publishing (AP.6328).
Dedicated to Gabriel Faure, Ravel prefaces this piece of "liquid poetry" with a line by Henri de Regnier: "The river god laughs at the water as it tickles him." Ravel indicated that he wanted the work "played in the way you play Liszt," and the technique required to play it hearkens to Franz Liszt, but the sonorities and transparency are definitely impressionistic. Polytonality, rippling arpeggios, tremolos, trills, double notes, major seconds, sevenths, ninths and other high-numbered chords are featured.
About SMP Level 10 (Advanced)

Excellent-just like Jeux d'eau
Hinson is a great editor-very true to the composer's intent and he offers a very reasonable price for students who purchase great amounts of music. The edition provides fingerings, a short biography of the composer and piece, and musical suggestions. Great condition and service!

Gorgeous impressionistic piece
Ravel wrote this piece so well. It is my very favorite piece by him. This piece has a harp like quality to it. It is difficult muchlike his other pieces. It contains a lot of notes. I reccommend getting Martha Argerich's recording.

The world's first impressionist music
Ravel always living in musical world far ahead of his time. He found impressionist music before Debussy and Jeux D'Eau is really a great and unique piece in piano literature. I prefer Alfred edition over the over priced Durand edition. (but I have both for some compositions. On some composition...
