Jazz Standards with Rhythm Section (2 CD Set). For clarinet. Instrumental Solo Part and 2 CDs. Published by Music Minus One (MO.MMOCD3218).
ISBN 1596152451.
A giant 2CD collection of great jazz standards with Larry Linkin as soloist guiding you; then try it yourself with the included rhythm section accompaniment! Includes such great standards as "Autumn Leaves," "Lady Be Good," and "Summertime."
Includes a complete, high-quality printed solo part with performance suggestions; and two compact discs containing the complete version of each piece with soloist and accompaniment; then a second performance with accompaniments minus you, the soloist.

Some nice things
I bought this title for our trumpet student, but it says on the book it is for Bb instruments, not just trumpet. The range is pretty extreme in some cases on the higher notes so not for most beginning/intermediate players - it can be played down an octave. Nice arrangements...

Too much ad lib
I heartily agree with the previous reviewer: the music in the CD is actually quite approachable to play; however, Linkin ad libs so much that you might as well be listening to another book/CD. In my opinion, this greatly diminishes the value of this type of book.

Clarinet artistry
Larry Linkin's clarinet artistry is very impressive. Unfortunately, his solo performance is so "ad lib.", that the CD and music set are not useful for learning. Great listening, poor for development of a student's ability.
