Jazz Sonatina by Robert D. Vandall. For Piano. Piano Solo; Solo. Form: Sonatina. Jazz. Intermediate. Sheet. 12 pages. Published by Belwin Music (AP.PA02504).
By popular demand, this all-time Vandall favorite is now available as a Belwin piano solo. This is dynamic writing, full of energy. There are three movements (Rhythmic, Lightly, Driving), each well defined and exciting. Teenagers won't get tired of practicing and playing this super solo. Audiences and adjudicators won't get tired of hearing it.

I really like the first movement of this Sonatina. It is attractively and cleverly written with a rhythmic drive in the first theme and really beautiful melody in the second theme. The last two movements are not my favorite, but first movement already makes it completely worth it!

I thought that it was a really fun piece. I especially liked the first movement because of the low notes and the way it sounded. I would recommend it to anyone that could play at that level. Robert, you should make more like those!
