J. S. Bach for Electric Guitar by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Edited by John Kiefer. For Guitar (Electric). Solos. Baroque. Intermediate. Book/CD Set. 40 pages. Published by Mel Bay Publications, Inc (MB.97068BCD).

ISBN 9780786634170. Baroque. 8.75" x 11.75" inches.

Unlike many Bach editions for guitar, these transcriptions are meant to be performed using a pick. Although a few of the pieces may be played on a standard acoustic guitar, most require an electric guitar or a guitar with a cutaway. All pieces are in the original keys and their ranges may require notes as high as the twenty-second fret. Written in notation and tablature, these six pieces make great sight reading exercises. The included CD will prove an asset in learning these often challenging pieces. Also available in Japanese from ATN, Inc.

For Electric Guitarists...

I hate to gripe, but...

I have to wonder why this book was transcribed for using a pick, as if you would ever have to or want to. It results in very bizarre and suboptimal choices in my opinion. The tablature at least saved me time in figuring out my own fingerpicked version of the...
