This idyllic dual keyboard arrangement of the familiar hymn tune CRANHAM, long associated with the poem IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER by Christina Georgina Rossetti, is an ideal instrumental selection for the Christmas season. Composed of simple, flowing harmonies, this piece is especially appropriate for the meditative portion of a worship service such as the prelude or offertory. Beginning in the key of D major, the melody alternates between the two keyboards as the song progresses through one stanza and then subtly changes to the key of F major during a short bridge and then continues to alternate the melody through another stanza. Though as a whole, this arrangement is classified as intermediate, the Keyboard II part being the easier of the two parts is more accurately classified as early-intermediate.
