I'm Goin' Up A Yonder (CME Conductor's Choice ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦). Arranged by Paul Read. For SATB choir and piano accompaniment (SATB). Boosey and Hawkes Sacred Choral. Choral. Octavo. 12 pages. Boosey & Hawkes #M051466016. Published by Boosey & Hawkes (HL.48004366).
This spiritual begins softly with a soloist (or small ensemble) and continues to crescendo in texture and dynamics, climaxing at the key chane with the addition of a soaring descant. The repetition of the text, I'm goin' up a yonder, helps to amplify the longing to go home.

WHAT AN AMAZING PIECE!
I am singing this in a middle school choir right now and I am in love! This is a difficult piece, but with a good teacher (like mine) it is easy to learn. I highly recommend it for 8-12 grades!
