Over blown and frankly not worth it
Nothing against the publishers or songwriters, but this music is awful. Some of the fake pop-fluff and attempts at large chorus numbers are absolutely pathetic. All of the "emotional" songs are shallow and shouldn't be heard by anyone. It is a disgrace to call this a musical and, family-friendly or not, it is unsuitable on which to rear a generation of musical fans. Whether or not Zac Effron is hot, the movie, in my opinion, isn't worth watching and the hype really should die. :)

high school musical is sooooo cool!
i think high school musical is appropriate for all ages and is very catchy and the actors can sing like the superstars they are and they act very well to i love high school musical . my favorite charecter is sharpy and favorite song is bop to the top high school musical is so cooooool!!!!!!

OK - If you just wanna bump along with the chords.
I was expecting the transcriptions of the piano as you hear it on the soundtrack, but that's not the case. Apart from the intro to each song, the transcriptions pretty much follow the melody of the voices. However, the chords are written so if you're creative, you can have a bit of fun. But yeah, just be aware that the transcriptions aren't the ones played in the backing tracks of the songs.

Purchased for 8 year niece, who is talented. Plays by ear and also by sight; has been taking lessons for 2 years. Would recommend only for older/advanced students as the arrangements tend to be challenging.

Completely different
I bought this book and my friend has the easy piano. It is very different to the easy piano and the film itself. Often you can work out from playing that it is not exactly the same as the original recordings and the Easy Piano is in a completely different key (normally 5 semi-tones up form the Piano/Guitar/Vocal). Though when The Piano/Guitar/Vocal version is different it will tell you with a little * at the bottom. My only other critisism is that there are more coda's and repeats than it needs; it jumps around a lot. Other than that it is a great book to play either at home if you are a fan or to accompany a stage version.

Common Sense
HSM is by far among the greatest stories ever told!! We love the music, the story line, and the whole production!! This could not have been written, produced, casted andy better--the chemistry is just all-around FANTASTIC!!!! Not to say that "Grease" wasn't a cool movie, but come on people, it wasn't exactly made for the family. This is an all-around family movie. Meaning, parents and children can sing along together and enjoy themselves as a family without having to edit the subject matter. It is wholesome and a fantastic opportunity for decencency and innocence to come back into our homes. I think HSM will set the standard for future stories/musicals to be clean, fun, and entertaining without compromising values and common sense. Hopefully, this is "The Start of Something New!" THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!

Some songs are, well...
I am a big fan of High School Musical, and I really want to get this book. However, not all of the songs are in tune with the original versons. For example, Breaking Free is in a higher tune than what you hear in the movie, but Start of Something New sounds great! If you don't believe me, print out the inside sample of the book and try to play the song.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!!
HSM the movie rocks, and the songs rock, and the music book rocks 2!!! Every song is great (except Getcha head in the game, it's a hip hop song so it doesn't work for the piano) but I would reccomend the easy piano for beginners. Bop to the top is kinda hard, but otherwise it's fine. Every song sounds like it did in the movie. CAN'T WAIT FOR HSM 2!!!

Very Good
I got this book so that I can sing in my talent show @ school and except for the fact that it is a very high male voice part and fairly low female part, the piano part is great, but It may b easy to sing with the soundtrack at times. Off key at times but overall I'd recommend this to anyone.

A good addition to the vocal library
I used this book so I could conduct my choir as I was not completely up to date with the lyrics and melody! It was faithful to the recording which is very helpful. Good piano accompaniment with a full texture. A uselful addition to the library!

HSM Rocks!
When I first watched the movie I fell in love w/ the music...now, I can play it! It's difficult though, I couldn't get through it w/o my piano teacher

plusses and minuses
The music itself is fantastic!!! however, this book, (as many piano editions) creates somewhat empty thin harmonies (just a little practice to fill them up works) and unfortunately they didn't lower any of the keys so only high tenors are able to sing the male lines....otherwise, this book is great, fun to play, and fun to follow along with recordings....even though those few issues are in the book, its a great book to have in your collection

Great music!
These songs are fun to play and for the most part easy! I enjoy playing it all of the time. I recommend it if you want some music that sound good. In this case, "Breaking Free" sounds the best!

This book is WAY AWESOME!!!!
The 'High School Musical' Songbook is sooooo awesome! Some of the songs are wicked easy to play, and some of them are a little harder. I was a little disapointed though, because 'We're all in this Together' didn't sound like the actual song. Whatever. I love this piano book and really, really recomend it!

Wow, it looks great, I haven't bought it cos I don't really know where to buy it. But I read the comments about the people, I think I would buy it although there are some keys are off. I would try to manage it back to make the song nicer!!!

i think this is a great book but when i played them so many songs were off key, so it really didn't sound much like the movie at times. if you would do anything to relive the movie this is great, but i didn't think it was all that.

High School Musical is an awesome movie!! So its great to play the songs on piano and sing them like they do in the movie! even tho it is in a different key coz once u have the notes in 1 key u can chage it 2 another 1!! (or get ur super musical friend 2 do it 4 u!!)

I'm a little bit High School Musical obsessed, so I may be a bit biased when I say that the music offered in this songbook sounds great. The pieces all sound like they do in the movie, although in a different key. The only slight problem I found with the book is that the song difficulty is rather low. I would have enjoyed something a bit more challenging, but overall, this is a great book! It's perfect for anyone who just LOVES High School Musical (and Zac Efron) plus it's fun and easy to play.

I was never as obsessed with HSM as most of my friends, but observing from the sample page and the songs themselves, I thought it would pretty easy and fun to play. The sheet music in actuality is mostly dull when played out on the piano. Stick to the Status Quo and Getcha Head in the Game are confusing to play and very unlike the actual songs. Probably the only songs of merit in this book are Breaking Free and When There Was Me and You. Both sound great with piano and voice or even piano alone. The vocal line is unfortunately included with the piano part in all songs, and about half the book has the sheet music in different keys than the recorded versions. [...]

HSM + Piano = 5 Star Sheet Music
High school musical is an AWESOME movie.I always sang long. Now i can actually play the music and sing with it. Ive been playing piano for ten years and this is actually the first book i have totally memorized, even though it is easy! Thats how good it is! Anyone can play it. It is simple. BUY HSM!!!

Cute, but lacks difficulty. =)
I've been bitten by the High School Musical bug, too, and before I'm done, I'll probably have spent about $100 on HSM merchandise. I plan to buy this book, even though I feel that it lacks a challenge, just because it would be nice to sing and play the piano at the same time to my favorite songs. This is a great marketing idea... I've been waiting for the sheet music or a book with the entire movie script, and hope that the latter will come out soon!

AMAZING!!!
This is just SO great...because ever since the movie came out I've been searching for the sheet music for it, but it wasn't out right away. Now that it's finally out I'm so excited, mostly now because now I can sing along, dance along, play the piano AND the guitar along with the movie!!!

High School Musical Rox Out Loud!!!!
I love high school musical!! it's so great and Disney Channel has definitley made a must watch! Let's just hope the sequel is the same way! Good luck to buyers. Now I will finally be able to play the music instead of just listenening to it. YEAH!!!!!

All I can say is FINALLY!!!! I have been waiting for this to come out for SOOOO long!! I FELL IN LOVE with the movie and the music when it came out. Definetly the best movie Disney Channel has EVER produced. And they're supposed to be making the sequel which they're hoping to come out this fall, but the lastest is Jan. 19th of next year. FINALLY!!! THE BEST EVER! I can't wait to sing with my friends!

THIS SHOW/ MUSICAL/ SONGBOOK ROCKS!!!!
This is the best disney channel movie ever. The music rocks and I've been waiting for the music to come out for a long time. I'm so glad that it finally is because now I can play it on the piano. Yeah!
