Excellent
My only wish is that more of John Bucchino's music would be printed as sheet music. The accompaniments are challenging (though they are truly his own, no pesky vocal line in the piano part), and the songs themselves, of course, are great.

A New Genius Songwriter
This is the book of the CD GRATEFUL, where New York's finest singers perform Bucchino's songs, which are tuneful, funny, and often extremely affecting. They are also highly original, with unexpected syncopations, modulations, and rhythmic shifts -- like the 5/4 bridge of the title song. Bucchino is one of those rare composers whose lyrics are just as fresh, touching, and beautiful as his music. He deals brilliantly with issues of love, loss, frustration, faith in God and in your fellow man. If you like Sondheim, you'll love these songs, which are as fine as anything Sondheim has given us as a composer/lyricist. I hope Bucchino's songs will touch you as deeply as they did me. They'll make you a better musician, maybe even a better person.
