Gershwin created these 18 song transcriptions between 1919 and 1931. He played the pieces at numerous private parties, often with many variations. Gershwin's impromptu performances of these 18 songs served as the basis for the transcriptions. His unique playing style can be detected in these wonderful pieces. Titles: Clap Yo' Hands * Do-Do-Do * Do It Again * Fascinating Rhythm * I Got Rhythm * I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise * Liza (All the Clouds'll Roll Away) * The Man I Love * My One and Only * Nobody But You * Oh, Lady Be Good * Somebody Loves Me * Strike Up the Band * Swanee * Sweet and Low Down * 'S Wonderful * That Certain Feeling * Who Cares? (So Long As You Care for Me).

Awesome
These pieces are really full and are not cheesy simplified versions. They're a little difficult due to Gershwin's love of jazzy timing and change of key within the measure. But they are well worth the work.

Jazz lovers delight
Every Jazz lover should run out and buy this book! It's the best of the best. These are Gershwin's own transcriptions of his favorite songs - perfect in their own right and great preparation for his Preludes and bigger works.
