Learn to improvise freely over any chord progression! The Fourth Note principle is a truly remarkable method for improvising in jazz and other genres, combining ear training, theory and technique to enable students to play with unrestricted creativity. In this book/CD pack, master guitarist Tony DeCaprio shows how to incorporate this technique using focus notes to anchor your playing within a chord progression through comprehensive, step-by-step instruction with examples for practical application of every new concept. The accompanying CD includes 99 full-demo tracks. A totally unique and revolutionary concept for teaching improvisation. There is nothing even remotely similar on the market. The approach is refreshing and brilliant. I highly recommend this book to both students and teachers. - Jimmy Bruno.

Good but some chords too advanced
I found the music somewhat helpful in understanding the method of approach but I'm not readily familiar with the advanced chords used and so find myself fumbling through the musical interpretations !

A different angle on improvisation
Tony D's book outlines his unique angle of teaching improvisation. He is a killer player and has a passion for teaching. This approach is a bit of a departure from the standard academic approach found in University curricula and other methods.

Work of Art!
Tony DeCaprio's Gateway is one of those rare finds in a method book, in that once the simple directions are followed, the knowledge gathered, along with the consequent application, may be very easily assimilated and amazing results will undoubtedly ensue. The book is far away from so many of the...

THE LITE IN THE TUNNEL
This book is a gift to making music from the heart. Many important skills are being developed, with time and much effort you can sound like you,and better yet play through the changes or just groove. From one educator to an other nice job. THANKS, MC
