Galop. (Solfege Suite). By Ken Berg. UNIS/2PT. Pavane Secular. Sacred. 12 pages. Pavane Publishing #P1307. Published by Pavane Publishing (HL.8301802).

The first “Solfege Suite” consists of three pieces of contrasting styles: “March,” “Bolero,” and “Gallop.” The names give away the character, but the truly fabulous part is that the text is all solfege. Singers learn about musical names, intervals and solfege, while singing programmable music written for the 2006 ACDA Young Voices Boys Choir, directors have been begging for the music's release since its premiere.

Great teaching piece!

I have thoroughly enjoyed using Galop as a teaching piece with my beginning high school chorus. I thought it would be a little young for my Freshmen students but they enjoy the challenge of reading the solfege. This is one song that students keep their eyes glued to the music....
