This is a nice DVD!
I actually like this video and Fred's teaching method. Bought the book and saw the DVD so I picked it up. I would say this is good for any level of player there is always something you can learn. The Duke Robillard Freddie King tape. Now that's a waste. Especially if you wantted to learn F. King note for note like I did. Duke teaching is lazy and boring....

Roadmap to Nowhere!
"To be or not to be." Shakespeare could have been talking about this DVD. It never seems to know where it's going. Beginning guitarist's are arguably the main audience for such a work. But for a beginner it is a road to nowhere. Instruction is unorganized and no real breakdown of technique is utilized. A split screen is utilized for the right hand, but right hand technique if it were ever applicable is not explained in any real degree. Concepts are introduced but never fully explained. It's as though he were thinking out loud to himself without regard to sound teaching method. The jacket states this is to be a companion to the book of the same name. This is just a bad excuse for poor quality. This DVD is an example of someone who can play guitar but cannot teach well (in this title). Fretboard orientation is vital for beginning guitarists who wish to fully utilize their instrument. Bottom line: DO NOT BUY!!

Don't Waste Your Money!
I want my money back! As a novice guitar player... I was expecting to learn some "tricks of the trade" along with some music theory (i.e. panatonic scales, blues box, etc.) while these items were glossed over. It was done so fast that it made it very hard to learn. In addition, the instructor is BLAH! He is very monotone, speaks too softly, and goes too fast for novice players and will bore the hell out of you if you're advanced. Unless you're interested in just watching some dude play the guitar and sing (badly) to you for an hour... don't waste your time or money.
