Menotti that is not annoying!
I was pleasantly surprised by Five Songs. The tone differs significantly from piece to piece, and they are not at all repetitive like "The Consul." The range is demanding (prolonged passages above and below the staff), but the text is beautiful and the melodic line interesting. Definitely worth adding to...
