100 Exercises. Composed by Carl Czerny. Edited by Adolf Ruthardt. Piano Book. Edition Peters. Book. Edition Peters #98-EP2402. Published by Edition Peters (PE.EP2402).ISBN 9790300755854. German.
In 1801 the ten-year-old Carl Czerny impressed Ludwig van Beethoven in a performance of Beethoven's Pathétique Sonata. At the age of 15 he had launched a career as a piano teacher. Czerny was chosen by Beethoven not only to give the first performance of his First Piano Concerto, and the Vienna premiere of his Fifth Piano Concerto but also to teach his nephew Carl. It is impossible to understate Czerny's importance as a teacher and his many educational works for pianists at all stages are as important today as when they were first produced. The First Tutor is aimed at beginner pianists, and carefully builds the fundamentals of technique. This classic Edition Peters publication is used by teachers and students across the world.

This is the very best method book you can start out with, take it slow and steady -- that's the way to win this one over.

5 Stars & 2 Thumbs UP! This is the great 'old standard', a must have a use each day for any piano student, but my good teacher always recomends that a new student of piano start out with FIRST completing Ferdinand Beyer's Op.101 with Czerny's Op.823 - Czerny's 823 is much better written then 599, shorter, easier, and along with the F. Beyer will help make it much easier to tackle the tough stuff in the latter part of Czerny's Op.599! The beginning student really should start out with the more 'assecible/easier' F. Beyer Op.101 and/or Czerny's Op.823....But, this one book of Czerny's Op.599 once it's 'masterd', then one can easily go on to so many varied great Master works of any of the Greatest composer's! Bravo to Czerny's Op.599 forever!!! Work it hard, and you'll see results with patience.
