The famous Hungarian composer fills his pieces with skillful, fascinating rhythms that shifts accents and speeds. The breathtaking disorder and turbulence of the keys in Desordre shows us Ligeti's enthusiasm for central African music, which would become his signature.

Difficult to play, but brilliant
These are classics of the modern repertoire, recently described as the most important postwar piano music. Only some of them can be played by normal humans, but they are all extremely rewarding.

I just wish to say that these are some of the finest pieces of piano music I know of, from any period. As a pianist, I greatly enjoyed learning and playing them. I would highly recommend this music to anyone with an interest in piano music.

Very great music.. A must have!
I wasn't going to write a review since I'm a horrible writer as you will see, but I know I just had to write a review. Never have I have heard such great contemporary piano music before.. Ligeti's Etudes are genius and very extraordinary. They don't sound as random sounding...
