Great Resource
I'm having a lot of fun with this. The pre-recorded tracks are terrific, and really handy for improving your sense of timing and feel. I would have liked more instructional analysis of scale application, but what is in the book is really useful. Almost all of the etudes are in flatted keys, which means I have to transcribe the licks for the group I play in, which doesn't use those a lot. But we're not a jazz group, and I guess jazz is all about the flats. Cat.

Nice Book
I am a mandolinist and bought this book to further my skills in the jazz genre. Nice, clear and concise explanations, and the music is fun to play. The musicians on the CD are super.

Onward to Jazz
Great book for violin students who started with classical music and want to transition over to jazz. Excellent presentation of theory and progressions.
