This collection of jazz etudes with an accompanying CD gives students a fun and effective way to learn to play jazz style blues lines. The CD tracks provide a professional rhythm section (piano, bass, drums) to play along with, plus recordings of professional jazz musicians playing each etude. The recordings help to provide a model for the student's stylistic development, and an opportunity to play with a great band! Each of the 12 etudes provides a new challenge to master.

Essential Jazz Etudes
Actually, I've already reviewed this particular book - but I liked it enough to purchase it as a gift for someone else who played from mine and liked it. I'm a novice at jazz, so this book has offered great insights and varied practice.

Essential Jazz Etudes The Blues for Alto Sax Book
Great book! The music is fun and sounds great. If you love the blues and jazz this is a great book to learn with. The music on the play along CD sounds like it's played and recorded by pro's! The music in the book get's harder as you work through...

Essential Jazz Etudes
A very good introduction to the blues with easy to understand theory and scope for improvisation. The pieces seem to get harder as you go through the book, but there is something there for everyone I think however advanced you may be. Buy it!
