Together with LPMEM26, these 8 instrumental pieces come from Easts The Third Set of Bookes: Wherein are Pastorals, Anthems, Nepolitanes, Fancies, and Madrigales, to 5 and 8 parts London 1610. The style of these pieces is rather madrigal-esque, wide ranging in mood and style, and generally Italianate. They are not like Italian contemporary instrumental pieces (sonatas and canzoni da sonar were evidently not so well-known in England as Italian madrigals).
About English Instrumental Music
c. 1600. Some of the English music of this period is suitable only for viols but there's plenty written in a style that makes sense on all kinds of instruments. That is what is produced in this series. Available as score and parts.
